Meh... now I'm getting more electrical weirdness. Last night I was driving home, and noticed that when I was stopped, the voltage would drop to 12. When in motion, it sits at its usual just under 14. GF suggested volt regulator is crappin out. Sound about right?

Check for good clean connection on the battery before you spend any $$

I agree with Phil. Recheck the battery connections first. I had them good and tight but it won't hurt to check them out.

Check the other end of the cables as well. If that's not it, alternator/voltage regulator sounds about right.

It's the sensor that screws into the driver's side of the neck. :ike a 21mm head on it or so if I remember right.

Took a look tonight and that is the one that gave me my problems and was the cause of taking out my wire loom at the connection. So, I'm sorry to say I can't help you Scout. If you need to order it, I know SOR carries them. I think it was around $20 IIRC. I get a 10% discount, and I'm going to be placing an order in the next couple of weeks. Let me know if you need one.

Checked this morning. Battery connections are tight. Didn't have time to check the other ends though.

Also looked again at the t-stat housing. Looks like it's leaking. Can't tell exactly from where, but I suspect the cobbled-together gasket or that bolt hole (if that's possible).

I also saw this cruddy connection down at the base. Dunno if it has anything to do with anything. I'll have to see what it is in my book.

Thanks for the heads up on your SOR order, D -- I may take you up on that. ;)

That looks like a thermostat housing bolt that's missing, but I could be wrong as I've never looked at the motor in a 60. If it is- well duh... :D

It looks like the leak is higher than the gasket, maybe one of the sensors, or the fan is blowing the coolant up there?

If your going to be in Mesa, I have a electrical system tester. The plan was to run the tests on your rig on wrenchin day, but got too busy with the no crank thing.

Since I didn't see any coolant actually in the bolt hole, I tend to believe you fan-blowing theory. Where are the CSIs when you need em? :D

I have no plans to be in Mesa, but I can MAKE plans. ;)

The missing bolt is just to hold that hose bracket on, so no issue. There is coolant higher than the gasket, most of the time it doesn't flow up hill and IIRC that gasket was nice and thick, shouldn't leak? The leak maybe from one of the sensors or hoses?

No problem if you want to cruise over this way, but some of the parts stores have the same tester and will use it on you rig for free, zone, checkers, etc?

That gasket shouldn't be leaking, but anything's possible. I agree with Kevin in that it looks like it might be that hose just to the left there. The leak's probably coming from up high. That cruddy connection below has got me stumped. I can't quite tell from the pic where or what that is. You got a bigger pic of it?

I found one of the required sensors for $20 plus the ride from a Mud member. Check with SOR to see if it's the right one for $20. That's a long way from $135 for a new one from NAPA. LMK either way and I'll get the other one on the way.

It's over at Truckwerks now (unrelated problem*), so I can't look at the hoses or take another pic. :frown: IIRC, according to the FSM, it's either the water temp sender or that cold start thinger.

No worries! I just scored one from the WTB folder (also for $20! :D). Should be shipping soon. I'm also getting a new water temp sender and a gasket from Cdan.

:cheers::cheers::cheers:

* started getting a weird clunking, then popping noise from the undercarriage.
