Why dont you just come along and enjoy the company and fun. would love to have you.

I have really given some thought to flying out and catching a seat with someone but now it seems I have a possible job loss looming later this month so I need to see what happens with that first.

John,

If you do not have a Job then no worries about taking vacation time right! Actually good luck with the Job thing, I know a lot of people on their toes right now.

Moab trip (wish) planning.

We are still working out the possibilities.
John E, Tim M and myself may fly out to Utah Saturday or Sunday, meet up with you at the motel, wheel Monday through Weds (privided there's enough seating) fly home Thursday morning.
We can fly into Grand Junction CO and drive out to Moab, just over a 100 miles. :)

See you at next weeks meeting, Fred

Fred,

We can try to work out a lot of details wed night. I know Myself, Norm and Dwight will be there before noon on Sunday. I am sure we will take it easy, go to the grocery store to stock up and get ready to wheel on Monday am. I am glad you guys might make it.

Just talked to Embrey and it looks like the 3-car wedge is availible so we are 3 big trailers deep right now.

You guys keep your eyes and ears open for another double.

I have had air fare watch dog looking for deals for the past couple of weeks. Got this yesterday:

Richmond, VA (RIC) to Denver, CO (DEN) $154 RT

Washington National, DC (DCA) to Denver, CO (DEN) $152 RT

I think there was a similar one to the Richmond deal for Newport News too.....

Denver is another 4 hours from Grand Junction. Total would be around 6 hours to Moab. I don't know if saving $200 on a single ticket would be worth that time to you. Plus Denver is a bigger airport so more airlines fly into it.

1200 hits and 18 possible people heading out there!! It looks like our own event. I am getting excited. Less than 10 weeks to go and we will be wheeling MOAB! I am sure we will have a lot to talk about at the meeting WED night. Leaving Ashland at 6:10. Call me if you are going to carpool so we know you are coming.

Hey,

just found this post on Pirate about Coyote Canyon in Moab. Everyone take a minute and write an email letter to the guy:

Help us re-open Coyote Canyon in Moab, Utah

Here is what I wrote:

Dear BLM officials,

I am writing to you regarding the Coyote Canyon Trail. Is there anything you can do to re-open Coyote Canyon and designate it as a legal route?

I realize that the RMP limits motorized travel to “designated” route and any route to be considered for travel had to be included on the BLM maps prior to December 30, 2003. Coyote Canyon is an exception. The trail should have been on the maps before the 2003 cutoff. I'm sure it was just a simple oversight, and one that could be easily rectified.

OHV Trails are becoming very scarce where I live on the East coast. I've been planning my first trip to Moab for the past two years. I currently live in Richmond, Virginia, and plan on being in Moab in March 2009. When I heard about the closing of this trail, I was heartbroken. It was high on the list of trails we wanted to drive on.

I'm sure you are aware that with fewer trails, more stress is put on other high impact areas. With the Moab area being such a sensitive environment, the trail system needs to be spread out to limit any over use of certain areas.

The trip my club is planning will have 18 vehicles, and over 30 people traveling to Moab, adding dollars to the local economy. Future OHV closings could potentially have a direct economic impact. With our economy the way it is, you need to keep OHV access open and working relationships with OHV groups, to help keep money flowing into local businesses.

I understand that the Moab Friends for Wheeling are working with you to re-open the trail. I fully support their efforts and hope that the BLM can look at this situation with open eyes.

If I could be of any further assistance, or to answer any questions, please feel free to contact me at 804-xxx-xxx or at the address below.

I might be convinced to come out for a day or two depending on what trails are being run.

check out other post for trails planned for moab. Hope to see you there!

Guys we need to make sure to bring lights for nightime repairs. We will need to repair at night so we can leave out early each morning. Also think about the fuel containers and the saftey factor with each of them.

7 WEEKS TO GO!!

Still open spots?

I'd really like to go on this trip, is it too late to sign up? My 40 won't make it but I will drive my Tacoma if I have to, but would rather ride passenger with someone to save on fuel cost and driving time.If someone has a spot please let me know. Also, is anyone doing tent camping? I'm all about saving as much money as possible. Unless anyone is sharing lodging to keep costs down.

Yes, we're still looking for a few passengers to help keep the drivers awake or share in driving duties. I don't think Rich has anyone riding with him and I know Cam is looking for someone to ride with him.

Several of us are staying at Slick Rock Campground, you're welcome to camp with us.
