Club Camping Trip

Red Hills Land Cruiser Club will be hosting a club camping trip November 17-19, in Ocala Florida. We plan to camp on Hopkins Prairie, in the first come first serve primitive camping spots. We will do some trail rides during the day and possibly evening. We invite all members to join us on our fun filled adventure.

Please bring your camping gear, firewood, and most importantly your Land Cruiser. We will be camping primitively. No access to electricity or running water. For our members who would rather a more prepared and easier route, there is a camping area on the opposite side of the prairie and campsites can be reserved. It is called Hopkins Prairie Campground. We are not too far from grocery stores and convenience stores if supplies are needed on the trip.

Coordinates will be provided for our camping area for all attendees, but if a guided escort to the camping area is needed we can provide that as well. If you would like a guide to the campsite myself or another member will meet you at the Sunoco Fuel station in Salt Springs. (Locations below)

The club will be providing a camp dinner Saturday November 18. It will be hamburgers and hotdogs with chips and drinks. We will need a definitive head count no later than Tuesday November 14, if you plan to attend. We don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you have any questions, please contact Sayer Lane via email, Facebook, or MUD and I will be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you have. We hope to see y’all there!

Sunoco Meeting spot: 13444 FL-19, Salt Springs, FL 32134

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances and events we will have to postpone our trip. As soon as a new date has been planned it will be announced. Thank you for your understanding and support.

A few plan to go down on Friday and camp. I plan to hit the road early on Saturday and will most likely return home that night.

Cross posting this here, since not everyone is on the facebook page:

Husband and I would love to host an informal meet & greet Saturday April 6th in Warm Springs, GA (31830). We were thinking about grilling burgers and maybe an easy dirt road/paved road ride together. Anyone welcome to camp at our place (no facilities) or we are about a 25 minute ride from FDR State Park campground. Thought this might me a good way for those folks further north in the club to meet up, but would love for anyone who wants to show up.
Just trying to gauge interest. Thanks!

Not a member so I hope you don't mind a post from an outsider ...

FYI Registration for the Relic Run 2024 (17-21April) is now open. For those that have not attended prior years, all Land Cruisers are welcome but the event's focus is showcasing the 40 series.

Mandy and her husband are doing exactly what we’ve encouraged other members to do that live on the outer edges of the clubs footprint (plan an event and put out the word). 😊
Hopefully there efforts will be rewarded with a good turnout.

Although it’s not a formal club event, a few of us plan to check out the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo in Stark, FL. this weekend. 😊

Hi guys. After having information about a potential gathering in April out there for a few weeks, I've only had 2 members express any interest, so I'm going to call this a bust for now. We'll maybe revisit it at a later time. I know everyone is constantly busy, but for this to be a productive club, members have to be willing to gather in person, otherwise it's just a facebook/social media page.

Thanks,

Mandy McCoy

One of the downsides to having a club with such a large footprint, is the fact that when we do have events, someone will have a “long” drive to attend said event. A good example is the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo (March 1-3) that many of us attended. Some drove 5-6 hours (one way) to do so. In retrospect, perhaps having a club whose membership was concentrated in the Southwest Georgia and the Panhandle of Florida would have been prudent. (That’s on me).
Feel free to comment …..

@sumguyswife …. “but for this to be a productive club, members have to be willing to gather in person, otherwise it's just a facebook/social media page.”

Although you present a valid point, I do take issue with the premise that we are “just a Facebook / social media page”. Since the Talladega National Forest event that you and your husband attended, we have had numerous other events (documented in the club’s news section) and had good attendance at each event.
Could we do better, of course we could, but compared to the other clubs in Georgia we are a beehive of activity and we will (with the help of our members) continue to endeavor to improve.
