Any ideas what would cause a clicking sound behind the guages that increses with RPMs?

x2 Does it go with RPM or vehicle speed. Mine makes a rasping noise on cold days till it warms.
How is the tach driven in these trucks?

Isn't it the hall effect off the flywheel?
No. It gets a signal from the ignition coil.

speaking of which, my intermittent wiper makes an awful sound when its in "pause" mode... sort of sounds like an electric motor with a really bad bearing, but only on the pause between..

I heard that you can take apart the box and grease it and it goes away.
