I used to do this about every 2 years on my Runner. It's pretty easy to tell if they're clogged, the motor won't start for s*** when cold.

Dam**. I wish I can do this simple cleaning for the 97 LX450. Where is that injector??

Didn't Know 3fe Had 1 Of These's

To Make It Work Do Ya just turn Key And go Or Is It Lke A Glow Plug In A Diesel,Turn Key Wait For Light To Go Out And Start.

Not a diesel

Just start the car like any gas fuel injected engine. Foot off the accelerator, turn the key. This injector works when these engines are hot or cold, and makes a big difference in how long it takes to fire up( i.e. extended cranking, etc. )

1FZ-FE engines do not use the same style fuel injection system, and do not have a cold start injector.

Awesome, Thanks! I just cleaned mine on my 92 and what a difference!! Great info and super simple.

Caution: I just broke the 12 mm top bolt over tightening it. I'm spewing gas can't get it to connect correctly! On the positive side it was black and now back to brass, but I can't drive it!:bang: Next day,got broken bolt out in 30 seconds. Having a friend clean up the threads on the 10mm bolt will put it all back together this afternoon. Good save considering the local bolt remover guy gets $85 per hour! Got 2 new 12mm bolts at local hardware store .33 cents each. Back on the road!

Did you use a wire brush, rag or toothbrush to clean?
Thanks.

What gasket are you guys using or are you reusing the old gasket when cleaning the injector? I may be wrong but the gasket appears to be NLA, I didnt want to pull mine without having a plan to avoid a potential vacuum leak.

I reused it

For me, the basics have made the biggest difference. Kickdown and Accelerator cables (huge, feels like a new rig), spark plugs, and of course an audio overhaul (even though that has nothing to do with the 3FE :D )
timing advance gets good power gain as well.
