Ok. So if we wanted to "rent" my room, we'd have to have a TULIP (?) insurance policy of some sort. If the building is scheduled to be open during the hours we'd need. we could just go meet and be done. Depends on the hours and what not. Not sure if this helps. Also I'm drinking, so you're welcome for no typos.

Finally! This has been a challenge, we now have a place for the Ham class & test:

Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Station 22
7011 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22150-3102

The class will be in the fire dept training room upstairs, not the bingo hall. Use the side entrance facing Backlick Road. Access is restricted so we will be escorted to the training room. We will do a "working" lunch - probably pizza.

If you haven't already posted that you will be attending, please post ASAP, even if you are a maybe, so I know how many test packages to order.

June 9th
Class for the technician license begins at 10:00
Testing begins at 4:00ish if you don't need to attend the class
Technician, General and Extra exams will be available
If you are not an active (dues paid) club member, the cost of the test is $15, please bring a check made out to: ARRL
Bring a government issued ID (drivers license)
Bring a copy of the technician test questions, Q signals and frequency band chart to the class
1. Technician questions: NCVEC - 2014-2018 Technician Question Pool
2. Band chart: Graphical Frequency Allocations
3. Q signals: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Get on the Air/Comm w Other Hams-Q Signals.pdf

See my earlier post for more links to study material.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope to see you on the 9th.
Ed

So far I have:
@iptman
@davesax36
@76FJ40
@NearJetties

The window of opportunity for getting a seat at the June 9th Ham radio class is closing.

If you want to attend the class speak now. Some members of the Fairfax CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) want to attend the class. CERT got us the classroom at the firehouse. If no other CLCC members are interested, then the remaining empty seats will go to the CERT members. There are a total of 18 seats.

If you just want to take the technician, general or extra test, show up at 4:00.

Let me know,
Ed

Just wanted to just say thanks for organizing this. Would be planning to join, but as luck would have it, I'm out of town Saturday. Maybe next time.

Glad it's going off. I am once gain out of town and unavailable saturday due to kids sports i can't seem to push onto my wife alone.

Thanks, Ed! The class was great :beer:

Looking forward to bugging you with questions when I am ready to buy some equipment.

Thanks to Ed and the gang for a class that was more interesting than expected.

Edd's a great teacher!!

Thanks again

I’ve been looking at the yaesu 7900 but not sure I’d use it enough to justify it.

Arrl paperwork snafu is getting sorted thanks to Ed

Yeah. I'm not looking to spend much. Will probably start with HT. I forgot to put my SSN on one of the papers, so Ed had to remind me about that, too.

My wife's tee shirt game is on point.
