I'm pretty sure it had been done...
I'll have to do some more research but I don't think it was OEM

Not that it matters now...

Trying to figure out what the best approach is... Rebuild, pull heads and check ect

Sure nobody wants to buy this?

Full disclosure. I think it might be overdue for a timingbelt.

Engine go BOOM? or belt just shred....any cool noises when it decided to shred..?

No noise. Just slowed to a stop

So updates? Where is it? Are you pulling the heads?

If you have to pull the heads and intake you might as well upgrade the starter and starter contacts since you have to do that anyway to get to the starter. You can put the bigger starter that came on the 03+ I believe.

No updates...

I'm betting it will be more than a month before I actually do anything

Did the engine cut off by itself? I think they sometimes put a failsafe in the computer to shut things down. I accidently hit the gear shifter in an automatic ford truck into reverse going 40 mph and instead of shifting, the truck shut down. No damage and the dealer told me the the computer went into fail safe mode to prevent catastrophic damage. He may been full of it, but

oh yeah.
It was just the timing belt.

Brief summary.…. Replaced the belt cranked it up and drove away; it’s been running fine since.

So.
I was just sitting around, thinking about the barista elf. I thought though that was dumb it would be nice to have a espresso machine.

I went to the garage; started cutting wires and duct taping stuff together and this is what I came up with.

It doesn’t make espresso ( yet) and it’s not a bomb (yet).
Got some finishing up to do and maybe one day I can have a real espresso at camp.

Huh..
* sweeps dust off the floor, grabs at a few cob webs*
I can’t believe this is still here.
When I said super slow I meant it but 12 years! Dang!

Well making a little more progress I guess I should start posting about it l. If for nothing else to finish the story. I know y’all been hanging waiting for an update.

For now I just want to say the Land Cruiser is still doing what Land Cruisers do. Almost 300k miles and still going. I still say it’s the Camry of Land Cruisers and compelety lacks personality but you can’t argue with the reliability.

I might even pull it off the market and keep it.
I haven’t had a good offer in 10+ years anyway.

Meetings are the 3rd Thurs at Cahaba, come hang and reintroduce yourself. Looks like it'll be June 20th at 6:00.

So…
Old girl is at almost 300k now.
I figured it might be a good time to replace the brake pads, change the oil, refresh the ac, buy some nee tires, grease things, and change the gear oil.

I have been hearing some odd sounds from somewhere under the back….. So I fixed it..

Now I’m no sound engineer or anything but it is my understanding that this stuff is supposed to help with not worrying about the sounds coming from under your 23 year old 300k mile Land Cruiser.

It still amazes me that I paid $11k for this thing in 2012.

Good to see you Thursday night Clank!

Well…

She rolled past 300k and I figured that this was the perfect time to take her on a several thousand mile camping/fishing trip through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Competed approximately 1000k miles of unpaved roads.

This was back In July.
That 1000k off-road rattled out all the ghost that had been hiding.

I truly learned what it felt like tonight ride a goat that was riding a magic carpet.

This lead to several hours of much needed maintenance on front end.
New front axle to replace a Chinese one
Rebuild of the other axle
New wheel bearings
New steering rack and tie rods
New universal joints
New swaybar bushings
It now rides like its new (or at least like it did with 175k miles)
