It has always been my understanding they are cast but I would expect Slee to know more than me. If they are cast then this should work:

they are not cast, they are fabricated from steel and so they should be simple to weld.

they tick like an old diesel and have gotten worse. There are some in the for sale section that can be had for shipping. New ones are 300 from yota.

Also installed my 2m with comet SBB-5 and Comet lip mount on the hatch.

Is that your timing belt? It broke while it was running?

The 4.7 is supposedly an interference engine but there are a couple of cases of them breaking without any damage. If you did break it I hope you don't have any damage.
