City racer Ignition switch won't fit. Any ideas?

Matt, could you further elaborate on the different switch, the one with the ribbed retainer nut vs. the smooth retainer nut. I see they are diff sizes but what years had what ?. I ask because I have seen both styles on the same years.

@tahoe40/45 nailed it, limiter straps. By ~1960 they had moved to the traditional limiter aka "stopper" found on later hard and soft top models.
