Lots of pics sorry:lol:

So we decided last minute to get a run going since Case (am.us.ed) had his cousin from Boulder CO come down with his new FJ62 diesel  WHICH WAS AWESOMe and we decided since its soo freaking hot to start at 6:30 in the morning.
Well while waiting for Case and Jacob to show up a guy in a sweet Bronco showed up and came over to chat with me...turned out he was meeting his friend to run the same trail as us. We all aired down and it was perfect timing so the the bronco..and 79 chevy with 38" tires (THE MIKES) decided to join us. I lead all 5 rigs down the loop.

This trail never has a soul on it...we ran into a group of 4 jeeps and one stock bronco thing I believe which was weird..we come around a corner after passing those guys about 100 yards or so and I see 2 dope as FJ40's (familiar looking) a Discovery with monster tires and a TJ...hahah it turns out to be our friends (split shots in the orange and ROckyLC in the blue) We all had a good laugh and they were excited to see the turbo diesel installed

I knew you would have more pics than I took:lol:

Indian Head:hmm:...Lot better than Chimney Rock (does anyone know where they came up with the name?)

I'm still digging dirt out of my ears, lol.

Yeah I'm a picture wh0re..my fiancee would have had even more:lol:

NOt sure about the name...perhaps the pioneers found the place and had a fire going on the north side and the smoke going up the rock looked like a chimney...or perhaps they were lame on the name:lol:

chimney_rock_national.jpg

But I named it Indian head years ago and everyone I've taken there calls it that now..I think its a perfect outline of a chief with a head dress.
I'll have to load up some NIGHT (15-20 second exposures )pics we took there during a full moon ...JUST FREAKING AMAZING!

Hahhahah I almost put the tube doors back on the night before but got a case of the lazies..otherwise I'd be digging out dust too:lol:

Hey dirt is good for you (that is what I keep telling myself anyway...):meh:

Like to see those pics, if you get a chance.

Next time I go, I need to check out the west side and figure how the hell that dude climbed up there.

Its easy to climb...you can walk up it. Just dont do it if you are easily freaked by heights or if its crazy windy:lol: ALl of those rocks you can walk to the top..the worst was being in highschool and going there to party...kids all over the freaking rocks..I'm surprised no one fell off and died JEEBUS....

one late night my buddy was on top of a one of those rocks and I was walking towards him..he said "dont come up here" I said WHY ..he WITH FEAR in his voice says "I'm NOT alone" I walked a bit further to see him hop down a 10 foot vertical drop (with his rambo knife in hand) right as an adolescent mountain lion hopped over his head growling :crybaby: I turned around and jumped off a 20 ' cliff and lived:lol: Looked up and could see the thing in the full moon waggin its tail HOLY CHIT!! Needless to say..we stayed by the camp fire after that...I forever went out there while camping PACKING...another time we had an animal come up to us while watching the stars and I pulled my weapon and had to scream at the thing...TOO Many stories of that wonderful place.

PECK a dirt before ya die right...for the NON door/roof havers I believe it would be 2 pecks or more:lol:

this is why i take jake along - so he can take lots of pretty pictures. thanks jake! this makes up for sleeping with my sister.

Great picture sequences - I especailly like the one of a.mus.ed with the halo of dust shooting out of his spare tire.... Post #2 - first one of Cayce showing his spare tire....

And the cool shot of those two great lookin' 40's, with the FJC offseting them....

That 62 looked awesome - the engine looks a little dusty in the picture, but it looksed showroom new when we saw it.

Great seeing you guys out there.

That stock blazer with the Russians in it made for exciting hijinx on the trail! Hopefully they enjoyed the trip!

Thaks!

Rocky

What happened to the russians? hahahahaah Good meeting you, hope we can wheel somewhere cool soon.

DUDE I seriously laughed out loud reading that hahahahah...

Where are the pics and videos from your cousins brah?

The stock blazer got hung up - the transfer case guard was sittiing on a rock, and the stock wheels in the sandy creek bottom were too small to get it off.

They got hung up about 10 minutes after we hooked up with you.

There were some passengers outside of the Blazer, while they were waiting for one of their friends to pull them off the rock (it wasn't really stuck that badly) and she was asking... (worriedly)

Q: How much longer this this trip?

A: Oh, it's only about another 45 minutes!

Q: Is the road all bumpy like this part is?

A: Oh no - this is the last rock. It's like a paved highway from here.

She didn't really look like she was having too much fun (at least at the spot they got hung up). They all caught up with us at the big water pool a little later - so it couldn't have been too bad. I'm sure she enjoyed the big uphill and the off-camber part!

They again caught up at the Chimney Rock, so all was good! She was enjoying the trip by then - maybe the vodka? (j/k)

thanks for posting the pics - looks like a lot of fun

Ahhh. how did we live through our younger years I often wonder :hmm:

Reminds me of the time many moons ago camping out near Houston Mesa when it was still wilderness. There were several of us up late around a small campfire when a guy stood up (to get another beer probably) and at once noticed that just outside the firelight - about 25 feet away - we were surrounded by dozens of pairs of big intimidating eyes staring at us. He freaked, pointed incoherently, then started throwing large amounts of wood on the fire while we stared wide-eyed at the many menasing eyes looking back at us (envisioning big drooling tongues licking the rows of many sharp teeth).

By then the fire had jumped to life and lit up the surrounding area. As we apprehensively peered out we saw what was surrounding us:

A dozen range cattle!

All I can figure is things are a little slow out there and they figured: "why not watch the stupid people for entertainment?" I think they ran off from our roars of laughter.

NOW THAT IS FREAKING CLASSIC:lol: ohh man bet the cows felt perdy good about that...till harvest season:lol: YES how did we survive ohh man the stupid chit we would do.

Thanks again guys for the kind words! CASE get your cousin here WTF? :D
