Now that you mention it, I got all of the shims from C-Dan originally. I think there were 1 or 2 that were NLA. If they are still available, it's worth keeping a set or 2 for the rebuild 10 years from now when they will really be NLA.

And, my rear drive shaft is 26.5 inches for reference-double cardan.

.......
I was a little bent that I had to look up the thickness of that shim though, and they tried to make it like I was an idiot because I didnt KNOW it off hand. I got a "HUFF" over the line. You know the one.

Ah well. Live and learn!
That's the same Huff I got when I didn't have my VIN committed to memory, it's that attitude that pisses me off.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a HUGE difference even from the stock one that I had on it!
Is that because of the SM465/ 420?
No wonder youre concerned with my SHAFT LENGTH...I guess that yours IS bigger than MINE!:D

Thanks for that measurement Andy!

Yeah...that got me a little ruffled. After I had to POINT OUT WHERE the shim was to him over the phone on the diagram that he had pulled up on the computer, I get attitude!?
Actually, I got the same crap over the Chevy trying to find the flex plate bolts....
Que Sera.

Your starting to make me feel insecure about mine now.

I'll measure it tomorrow, it is a DC. I got it from High Angle.

Do you recall how much you spent on it?
I had Dean build the DC for the Blotch rig which was awesome, but I did think it was a bit spendy...Although it was nicely built.
However, given that others are posting numbers in excess of 26 in, it would be worth it to have a really stout and quality built DS if I am to be LACKING in length.

HAHAHAHA....
It just doesnt get old!:D

Im buying a a DC front shaft from Jack, so that one will be fine.

Hoping to start the rear spring over this weekend, unless I get REALLY ambitious and decide to try and build a x member off the 19 spline...The projects are NEVER ENDING at this point!

I'll see if I can find the receipt, it wasn't cheap. The good thing was Jessie walked me through it and it was right the first time.

You might consider re-working the DC shaft from Jack for the rear. I don't think you will need the DC up front. It should be cheaper to do that and build a straight shaft for the front.

cross member is FINISHED!!!!
Here are the pics of the rest of the build of that.
Im thinking its gonna be GOOD TO GO!
Kevin came up and dropped my diffs, rims and tires off, Rusty TLC and I traded a set of front axles for a VERY NICE set of 60 springs and he also dropped off a set of jack stands for me to borrow...

Thanks gentlemen for the parts! Rusty, thank for the wisdom.

So with my old set of 60 springs that I have, I figured that crusierdrew would want em...he said that he would take em, but it would be more beneficial for me to take one of the leaves out of the old pack and ADD it to the pack Ill be using. Thanks for the tip Andy!

Few more of the x member...
Did triple pass welds at the DOM just for good measure and then gusseted it with 1/4 in. The sleeves the bolt to the t cases go through have been ground down so they dont hang up...My camera ran out of batteries, so I couldnt get any pics of that part.
Might have to clearance the gusset a bit on the PS where the flange sits...there is about a 1/2 in clearance between that and the flange bolts...with torque, I think it could hit.

That's a great looking cross member. I think it could easily hold up the whole truck! It turned out way different and better than I thought.

It's even more impressive in person.

It will really help with keeping the COG low too.

Thanks Andy!
Im actually really happy with the way that it turned out. I certainly could have done the same thing in HALF the time JUST using some 2x2 square stock, but.

Yeah...its HEAVY!

Could bench press that thing:p

Looking good......

Pulled the drive drain out, and welded the cross member mounts and the motor mounts in.
For the motor mounts, I cranked the machine ALL THE WAY up and burned some BIG, GNARLY, BUTT UGLY ass welds. Those WILL NOT be going anywhere. Theyre NOT pretty, but they will do the job! Did some double passes on the scab plate just for good measure!
Next up...box in the rear of the frame, and try to add another x member to the 19 spline.
I was talking with Rusty TLC, and he had said that AA has a x member. I know the one he is talking about. He has one. He seemed to think that it could be used on the 19 spline. Either that...Im thinking that I could fab some plate steel to mount to the covers that covers the input shaft!? If that makes any sense?
Then...the spring over starts!!!!!:bounce::bounce2:
