I just noticed that you mentioned getting rid of the charcoal canister. I would be wary of that. I think someone reported an engine fire after they did that and I am not sure I understand why you would want it gone in the first place. If yours is clogged, the simple fix is to replace it with the VC-120 that comes off a Pontiac or something.
