At least 5 guys from the spanish HDJSeries forum are going to buy the 4wdbits air-to-air intercooler for both the 1HD-T and 1HD-FT, so we'll be able to give you loooots of feedback.

We hope to place the definitive order at the end of this week, so we may have the intercoolers here in two weeks or so.

We have been looking for hood scoops and maybe the one from the new turbo-diesel Hilux is the most appropiate (just a little bit small):

For the fan, I'm not sure, but I think we won't have place under the intercooler, so we'll have to make it on it. Some people place it under so, when you have enough air flow from the scoop, the fan doesn't block it when it's not working.

This scoop would look GREAT on an 80-series! Have you already check if it comes as a separate part?

Yes, you can buy it new in a Toyota dealer for abour 120 € (180 $ more or less), included rubber seals, but I'll try in junkyards first.

This little badboy on a late 80 series looks pretty custom (maybe for ideas)
looks like a hilux scoop

Have you considered meth injection...

Installed on my bj74 and works great:) and the only thing that take a
little room is the tank

Happy trails:grinpimp:

who makes this? almost looks like an OEM set up.

that intercooler...

sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the one on that land cruiser pick-up. it's another design.

Another nice hood scoop

This one from a Hyundai Terracan. It's quite big.

Cañonero,

Have you guys gone forth with the purchase yet?

Just curious if you're (or were) able to get some sort of discount for purchasing a few of them together.

If you haven't, is there room for one more order, but going to a different locale than Europe? :hillbilly:

Regardless, please keep us posted with your installation!

X2 .. and report us your impresions ( have a pyro and turbo gauge to share some numbers with us .:? )

VDO pyro and turbo gauges are on their way (found a really good deal) also a set of reconditioned injectors from Australia..

I was thinking on installing all at the same time (gauges, intercooler and injectors) to save some money (I'm so useless as a mechanic and I have to pay for all I want to do in my car), but I'm also too curious to see the EGT temperatures before and after the intercooler (also, I won't install the hood scoop yet, I really can't wait to see how it performs without the hood scoop.

Will it be a difference in hours of labour if I make them install all at the same time vs gauges first and then intercooler and injectors?. This may sound stupid question for most of you, but I don't know if there are some parts related when installing boost pressure sender and pyrometer.

Also, I don't know where to install the pyrometer pre-post turbo, I've read a thousand of threads about it and haven't come to a conclusion.

pyro probe pre turbo .. means exhaust manifold .. didn't afect or it's intercooled related .. so you can pay for that and keep the intercooler to do by yourself at home after the pyro instalation ..

as same as boost gauge are pretty easy to install .. but maybe pay for both .. that let you offer those pre intercooled numbers ..

Hi all,

We baught couple of them down here in France form 4wdbits.

I am in contact with Warren for almost a year now and we got about 15 units 12 and 24V ordered.

I got mine last week and installed it but up to now i did not had the time to work on my scoop.

The cooler quality is ok, it is not a very very high quality core but it is ok, the weldings are very good.

We had some small issue with the first models, no bid deals but it took a little more time to install, 2 holes offset a coupekl of mm, and 1 srew too long, no big deal. Warren promis us to improve on this side.

The cooler works great but without the scoop we can really feel the heat soak effect after a long hill climb.

Drop pressure is extremelly low, about 20gr from before to after.

With the boost compensator changed in the IP and the turbo pushed to 950gr, my 80 is really getting up now and pushing like like it should have always done.

Great.

If only they could have find a bigger core, that would have been perfect.
In march i will test it in algerian desert for a 1 month expedition.

For the price..you can't find anything close to it.

Thank you Siche, is good to see that you are satisfied with the product, even without hood scoop.

We are hoping go get our 8 units at the middle of this month, and some more will be on their way I believe if these perform as we expect.

What hood scoop are you planning to fit? We realised that there is a "hood nerve" in the middle that we don't want to cut, but could be a problem to find space for a fan with that nerve.

Have you thought of the possibilitiy of the fan, to reduce heat soak at low speeds? Is there room under the intercooler to fit the fan?

I believe that with the hood scoop you should get a much bigger improvement, keep us posted when you do.

Cañonero, any news? are you shipping them to spain or england?

do you have a link to the site where you got the good deal on the VDO gauges?

cheers
