I’m slowly getting my harness put assembled/ sorted out. I have all (I think) diagrams etc but am still scratching my head. It’s a 10/71 harness going on a ‘76 engine so I’ve had to move a few things around.
Here’s the diagram I’ve been referencing

,amber easiest to start from the alternator: heavy white/ blue from B-side, white/ green and white/ black to regulator

This is where I start stumbling. I have the black/ white wire to the starter but that’s all going forward to the engine. Seems like here should be white along with white/ blue wire picking up somewhere for the amp meter and then to the starter/ battery.
Also, I know there should be a fusable link in there somewhere?
Just difficult for me to build it up just based on the diagram.
Any pictures of actual harnesses would be huge but any help appreciated

In order to hook up the alternator it would help to see a pic of the back of it to determine what it is. It should be a standard three terminal connector on the back. I sell that connector Part# FLF3P6.3 if you need one.
Alternator Hookup
The 10ga White/Blue wire will attach to the alternator B+ stud with a ring terminal.
The White/Green wire will go to the alternator F terminal.
The White/Black wire will go to the alternator E terminal.
The N terminal on the alternator is not connected to anything.

That 10ga Black/Red wire goes to the key switch AM terminal.

The 10ga White/Blue wire runs from the alternator B+ terminal to the Amp Meter - terminal. The 10ga White wire runs from the Amp Meter + terminal out to the passenger side harness that runs along the inner fender and exits near the battery to a MALE Black 7.8mm connector. The mating female connector on the fusible link plugs in to that connector. The male connector on the fusible link plugs into a female connector with a White wire that then connects to the Battery + terminal via a 3/8 ring terminal. I sell the entire fusible link kit. and if you need it. can supply the white wire from the link to the amp meter. Just send me an email telling me what you need.

See the drawing for how the always on power is wired on your 1972 FJ40. It shows the fusible link.
