Hello All, my 2000 year 100 series starts hesitating on pedal throttling, and sometimes doesn't accelerate at all, on advice from the forum, I dismantled and cleaned the throttle body, same problem, I replaced the TPS sensor on the throttle body and the throttle can accelerate now but its still hesitating on hard pedal press but works on light foot pedal. And on start the engine seems to go low before picking up.

I have checked the vacuum sensor on top of the engine and those on the canister and they are working OK.

I disconnect the vsv sensor cable and connect it direct to the battery and the valve opens sucking the vacuum to the engine and the engine revs normal and when I plug back its connection it starts the hesitation.

Can anyone help check what the vacuum will be in the vacuum lines as I don't get vacuum on the hose to the fuel pressure regulator or is this normal. I need help pls.

Thanks all and I appreciate your response.

When you open the VSV to atmosphere, you are sucking in air and leaning out the engine. I don't see you having a problem with the evap system, you have a problem with it running rich, IMHO. Get Techstream going and see what your sensors are telling you.

OK. I have techstream and i will try use it but can you direct me which area I will have to check for the sensors?

I'll be honest with you, I don't remember at all where it was in techstream. I poked around, as usual, until I found what I was looking for. Hopefully someone else has a better answer than I do.

The FSM on the other hand, was very straightforward.

OK. Thanks. I will go through the FSM as I do have the PDF one

For replacing the smaller hoses on the charcoal canister did you use standard vacuum hose or does it need to be fuel line hose because of the gas vapors?

Does cleaning the vacuum switch valve with MAF cleaner make any sense? I have read of different makes and models using MAF cleaner for cleaning the purge valve/VSV. Is it a fruitless effort to make or does it make perfect sense? I have a 2000 100LC with 271k miles, and I have a little sputter at start up, especially after fueling up. Sources I've read, and suggestions I've gotten from forum experts here, say it can be many things, including but not limited to the fuel pump.
I've had little free time for testing, but I'd like to clean the valve if it's not deemed a waste of time. My truck runs good once I've started up, with no issues. I think it's an issue related to vapor, since the sputter symptom is most pronounced at start up after I've filled my tank. Vapor control and exchange to my understanding is everything to do with the VSV/purge valve mounted by the intake on top, adjacent to fuel filter.

My 2005 LX470 (136k miles) has thrown P2418 twice in the month or so I've owned it, and I started a thread or two about it. The FSM indicates a bad evap VSV as the only culprit when P2418 is the only code. I was at the dealership yesterday having some warranty work done on my FR-S, and while I was there I asked about the valve and was told that it wasn't available separately; you had to buy the entire canister assembly.
For those of you who replaced just the valve, what part number did you use? Did you have to do any fabbing/bracket cutting to replace it, or is it just bolts and clamps like the vsvs in the engine compartment? The Toyota tech I spoke with said they see a lot of corrosion at the contacts of the evap vsv due to it's location, and suggested I just clean the contacts first... and I will.
I just had the same issue, I replaced the VSV by the charcoal canister with Dorman 911-601 VSV and it works just fine

I also had P0441, P0446, P0455, and P2418 on my 2005 lx470 and was told I need a new charcoal canister. Instead I did some troubleshooting. I tested the VSV under the hood with a 9V battery and heard the solenoid click when voltage was applied to the two leads. There is another VSV or purge valve on the charcoal canister that failed the test. I live in the northeast so it's pretty rusty underneath. Couldn't find a part number for that VSV as it comes with the charcoal canister. I did find a direct replacement for it though. I replaced the old VSV with Dorman 911-601 $45 and zip tied it in place. Cleared the codes and it's all good again
