The TLC has an 18 gal thank and the 550 have a 25 gal tank are they interchangeable?

Just looked at lexus.com. They list the GX550 @ 21 gallons fuel tank. Two additional gallons doesn't do it for me. I'm hoping Long Range America will introduce a replacement tank very soon! Fuel range is my biggest complain to date about my 250.

I get mine on Saturday how many miles are you getting? Not mpg and I know both will very but how many? My Hundy got about 250 to 300 what is everyone getting?

310 shows at fill up for me

Generally 270 miles / tank. I fully admit that I get after it on the hey. Typically go 85ish. I have the factory roof rack / Nittos.

How about three does that do it for you? LOL

Seriously you are correct that isn't much but I bet once they start showing up in salvage yards they will be an inexpensive alternative. Someone will make one and I will look into that.

Gas gauge for me is showing 310-340 on fill up, but you still have 2 gallons when the range gets to 0.

But 3 gallons at 20+ mpg certainly helps - especially if it were totally "plug and play".

I'd also give advantage to not robbing the area where the spare sits or introducing an aftermarket, poorly coated/painted tank that sits in a spot where Toyota didn't intend for fuel to sit (although I wonder if any non-US variants have an aux fuel tank in that spot). The Dubai configurator shows capacity of 110 L (~29 gallons) but I don't know if that's all in the same tank in front of the rear axle or not.

Surely someone with TIS can divine that for us. But 29 gal at 20mpg is 550-600 miles of range. That'd be nice - right @TWILLY ?

Maybe someone can corner the market on all the 110L tanks Toyota will sell them in Dubai or Japan and load up shipping containers full for resale here for upgrades.

The 1GD-FTV also has a full length skid for that 110L (29 gal) tank. It appears to all be in front.

Compared to the US (250) it almost looks like the US smaller tank doesn't hang down as low (likely a shorter heigh tank) and maybe Toyota thought it was enough out of the way to not require a full length skid.

I put a 48 gallon gas tank in my FJ60 for long ass baja Mexico trips and it was the BEST thing I added to the truck. Max Range: 600 to 660 miles. You suddenly become FREE in a very real way.
I even brought another 6 gallons of fuel in 3 small jerry cans on certain trips to be able to make my longest run. 54 gallons total

All TLCs in Australia have an option to add an auxiliary tank in place of the spare tire. I was going to do it in my Hundy but they were EXPENSIVE. I found someone who could build one for me where my spare went so maybe I make a smaller one for my 250.

That has been true in the past for both HD, Wagon, and Prados since you could mount a tire on the door, but I think for 300 and 250 that option is not there. Can you confirm one way or the other for these TNGA-F vehicles?

No, I just know they used to and I just thought maybe they would for these. I think if I were to build one I would make it like a Jerry can. It would just sit there full of fuel then when I am low I get out and pump from one tank to the other with two filler necks. Lord knows the filler door is big enough to fit 7 or 8 filler necks. 😆

Is the 110L a single tank, or a main plus aux? Ideally a factory aux tank could be fit with a dual filler neck. I recall a post claiming the 250 equipped with the 2.8L diesel (33 mpg) and aux tank would achieve 900 or more miles of range. Legit.

One of my 80s has about 50 gallons of fuel capacity. Like OSS, this was for long and remote Baja routes, but I’ve gotten deep into the second tank in Northern Arizona, Utah, and Nevada too. In fact, we’re planning a trip in our N AZ club right now that’ll be cutting it close for stocker range, and it isn’t even really that remote.

The most I’ve done between fill ups is about 670 miles, which included about 50 miles in 4L. That sort of route freedom is a big deal, especially if you like to explore remote places out past the dumpster side of the mall.

The large fuel door on the 250 implies to me that there is a dual filler neck in some other market. Never researched it. But like my 80 series when I need extra fuel best bank for the buck is a Jerry. For the few times I need extra fuel I can’t justify the expense of a larger tank install.

I bet and I have no knowledge of this but the large fuel door would be for a diesel DEF tank filler neck.

Without having access to fuel diagram we cannot be sure if the fuel tank design is the same or not. Many hybrid use stricter emission system and got different charcoal canister system. This can trigger CEL and disable a lot of systems.

Most factory dual tank are not compatible with US emission standards. A few tried retrofit OEM subtank and found they use simpler emission system. They are prone to trigger CEL on US emissions vehicle.
