Bought in February with approximately 30mi and getting close to 4K mi. I drive other cruisers that live in my driveway as well. The 5k dealership recommended first service is getting close. I’ve been filling up with premium gas (including two 6hr trips since February) since day one. 18.6mpg 🤷‍♂️ (don’t care bc it’s better than my 14’ 200)

Question: I didn’t buy any of my other (current) cruisers (5) brand new, only the 250. I never put premium in any of them. Is everyone putting premium fuel in? Thanks.

engine will likely ping and typically you'll get worse mileage on lower octane fuel - so a fill up will be cheaper at the pump with lower octane gas - but you'll need to fill up more often. So it won't be cheaper in the end. Also you'll get lower performance with low octane fuel - and Toyota doesn't recommend using it anyway.
Its the turbocharging that likely requires it.

Ah, the classic, endless, no-winner-ever-found fuel debate.

On one hand you'll have folks tell you they've been filling up with a 60/40 mix of kerosine and cat urine for the last 30 years of their 2 year old vehicle, and everything's still running beautifully. On the other hand, folks that will tell you anything less than 94 octane will immediately blow up your engine and cause a sink hole under your bedroom.

Do whatever works for you and you'll be happy! Some folks are happy on 89, others on 91. Not all 89s and not all 91s are equal in different locations, either. Toyota's recommendation is always a solid baseline to start with.

Manual call for 91 I believe but the other t24 engines in other platforms only require 87. We fill with 91 but many people on the interwebs claim no difference in performance or economy using 87. I am sticking to what the manual wants and the sticker on the fuel door 91. The fuel economy is very dependent on driving habits in the 250s is my observation and can vary widely depending on driving style. My wife gets awful mpg when she drives and she doesn't give a F about economy she like to punch it everywhere. I drive like there's an egg under the peddle.

If my 2025 LC250 equipped with the USA - OEM "micro gas tank" (17.9 gallon capacity) were to run empty, (being I’m In Commie-fornia with the $0.612 per gallon state tax ☹ with 91 octane currently @ 4.90 per gallon) it costs me an additional $7.16 per fill up to use 91 verses 87. I would save around $7.16 per tank to use 87. If I drive 10k miles per year @ 20MPG average using 87 over 91, I will save me approximately $199.00 per year.

I ran 91 in my 1997 FZJ80 with 365,000 miles, “Top Tier” Chevron gas @10.97 MPG, it just ran better. I’ll never run less than 91 in my lc250
