Changed ignition coil and it started great. Then turned it off and tried again and now won't start.

Need a little help here.. Yesterday, going to work i felt a very rough idle. Coming home from work, the CEL light came on and VSC lights. Pulled the code and got 1 - P0301. Misfire on cyclinder 1. Saw on here that it's likely the coil, so I got one from O'Reillys for $85 and swapped it in there. It was first time doing it.. I disconnected the negative, took off the cover, unplugged the front right and took it out. Put in the new one. Hooked up the battery, put on the cover, and started her up. Started up great, ran perfectly for a minute with about 700 rpm at idle. No CEL or VSC lights. My scanguage was a blank screen. I turned the car off. Unplugged the scanguage and plugged it back in. Tried to start her again, made one click noise and wouldn't start - just a dyng out sound and nothing when i turn the key.

I tried to unplug the negative on the battery again, left the scanguage unplugged, and when I put in the key, the lights and everything come on, but when I try to start it, I get one click and then nothing. Won't turn over at all.

Any ideas what happen? Fuse? Starter?

How old is the battery?

From 11/15. Always shows charged. It's only one click and nothing. I'm thinking it's the starter relay or the starter...

Yeah, I think you just got an unlucky coincidence that you had just replaced the coil. The starter doesn't know whether you have a new coil or not. My guess is starter relay.

I let it sit for a couple hours and then tried and it started up fine. No problems. I wonder what was going on. The s*** getting use to the new coil?

I still think it's the starter relay. Typically the starter relay is intermittent and gets worse and worse over time.

Check battery voltage at battery and at starter relay. Check battery voltage coming out of relay if possible [never done mine not sure if you have access to do so at relay]. As already stated, make sure connections are clean at battery. Voltage coming out of relay should be same as going into relay. If not relay may be at fault. Relay is nothing more than a switch to send voltage to starter. It needs to get signal to open [pass voltage to starter] from key switch. It is best to do some basic tests before throwing parts at it because that gets real expensive if you guess wrong.
