Figure this might be the most appropriate place to ask since some of you might be running chains on larger tires?

I'm looking for chains that have to be out there, or a company with the brains to make them. I want a heavy duty (8mm) square cut link, in a diamond pattern (or H, but that's less likely) for 37x12.5-15 MTRs.

I've tapped out my local suppliers and can't find anything online. (tirechains.com doesn't use large enough links).

Anyone will sell a bar-style with any link type or size, but not diamond. The idea with a diamond or H pattern is to reduce lateral slippage.

Any help much appreciated!

Have you tried government surplus stores like Colemans surplus in PA? I'm not sure what pattern the chain is but the US Army uses chains on their Hummers and they run 37" tires. Just a thought.

Yep, the hummer chains will fit those 37s perfectly. I've got a few sets here. They are real loose on 36x12.50 swampers. They fit 8.25 and 9.00x20 real well. And 37x13 IROKs too.

But they are standard ladder style.

Other than a smoother rid in pavement, I doubt that you will see much real gain from the diamond pattern.

Mark...

It looks like ladder style is the way to go. Lots more options out there for it. Thanks for the input! (wow those coleman chains are spendy)

BTW, that link is one of the companies I've been talking to. For any real "offroad" terrain they will likely snap as they are using 4.5mm links vs 7 or 8mm that you'd want to use in rocky/muddy/snowy terrain you'd encounter in 4x4.

chains !

Tire chain ..

are the tire chains for 4x4ing or highway driving? my friend collin got a tool to make holes and insert studs, he used this for 33" boggers on his yota truck, he said they worked good for winter highway driving (even with lockers, i think he's nuts!) and climbing over logs on the trail. maybe another option.

Sure, fairly common in my part of the world during the winter. Specialy when there has been a thaw followed by a freeze. Snow tires are worthless when there an layer of ice on the road.

 and what do you do when finish the ice and snow in the road .. stop to pull out . ?

Yeah, hehe, all for naught. Really the chains were for the BJ42 buildup, since it is inheriting the 37s off the 45 and will be heading to Alaska in some near future trip.
