Nothing is happening when I'm pushing the center differential lock button, no lights, no sounds.

I'm assuming the actuator is bad, but before I go spending money on something I don't need I wanted to ask here first.

Thanks!

Keep working that button over next few weeks, they freeze up from lack of use. Often time it will CDL will lock as they start freeing back up, without lights indicating. Ss be alter to wheels binding on turns, as happens in CDL lock position.

I've put off fixing the center transfer case lock for quite some time but I'd like to get it working again now.

I bought a different relay for the actuator and still no success. I cannot hear a relay clicking nor does the transfer case lock up when I press the lock button or put the truck into 4 low.

What should I look into next?

Ok back at it again. I removed the harness from the tranmission relay (what toyota calls the center diff lock relay)

The only pin that has voltage is pin 3 on the harness, no matter if I push the center diff lock button or put the truck in 4 low. I checked all related fuses (3) and they all test fine.

I'm running out of ideas. Help!

is the actual switch functioning properly to tell the relay to flip?

That I am not sure of...

At this moment can say no maybe they are not working because no other pins are getting voltage when the switch is pushed or when putting the truck into 4 low.

Is it common for both the switch and the 4l switches togo bad?

I think so, especially on northern trucks that are rusty. I'm fairly certain both of my swithces on the t-case are bad as i get no lights for CDL or Low Range, but my CDL relay clicks. I was referencing the actual button you push in the cab though, not the switch on the t-case.

I was hoping you were referring to the interior cane switches too. Yeah no relay clicks I pulled the wiring schematic and I'm just not having any luck. The relay is just not getting power.

Did you ever figure this out, Currently having the same issue with my 2000 LC. No click, no lights, nothing

Keep using the button. The rely/switch on transfer may free up. Backing and turn steering wheel, will bind wheel if CDL engaged.

Subscribing.

I went out on a mild off road trail this weekend and was able to put the T-Case in Low Range - worked as planned. But then I tried pushing the Center Diff Lock switch and no light turned on at the dashboard gauge cluster, didn’t see any other lights turn on, didn’t hear any relay clicks.

Read through some of your first hand experience here and so I started to pull the two sensors on the t-case. Bo traces of rust at all. These are the two sensors I pulled:

I cleaned them as they had a few oil at the tips and sides, both still compress and spring back to resting position, my question is should I just go ahead and replace them? OEM or alternate replacement parts?

Update:
I put back the two sensors again, now when CDL switch is pressed I can now hear a click on the relay behind the dash, same goes when I un-press it click on the relay. However no CDL light on at the gauge cluster still.

Picture of them properly installed again, picture take from the driver side near rear differential.

I ended up resolving the issue by getting a new center dif lock switch mine was defective for what ever reason. Installed the new switch, pushed the button and bam I now having a locking transfer case. I doubt this will work for most members as it seems the switch is not normally an item that goes bad. All I can say is check all your fuses and connections before replacing the switch.

I just replaced my CDL sensor today. Now when I press that CDL button, apart from hearing the relay behind the dashboard (passenger side), I can now hear a loud-enough electric click undercarriage (I assume coming from transfer case), so it must be working.

However on the gauge cluster I don’t see the CDL light turn on.

So I went ahead took out the gauge cluster and took a look at the bulbs.

Thinking of replacing the 4 pieces of bulb to new ones or LEDs. What are their part numbers? Is there also LED replacements for those 4 pieces of peanut bulbs?

@MastiffDad14, do you happen to have a part number for the switch or know where I can find it? My relay checks out on the FSM continuity tests, but the CDL on/off switch is failing continuity tests in the off position. I'm coming up short on a part number for the switch and how to disconnect the switch from the circuit board.

The CDL switch on my 2001 LX470 shares a circuit board with the hazard light switch. The part number on the circuit board (688001-0260) is not coming up on any part supplier searches.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply and for posting your fix on this. Couldn’t find it on eBay. The guys at Kuni Lexus tracked it down for me. So I’m going to buy from them. They tell me there’s only 6 in stock in the US.
What did the switch run you? I am in need if one for my 04 LC.
