Reviving this s***. I've been tracking this down forever. Thank you for this thread, I found out that you can get the circuit board separate, this has been my thought this whole time is that the board has gone bad. I ordered one from Toyota parts direct, no dealer has it in the states and is currently on back order.

Keep working that button over next few weeks, they freeze up from lack of use. Often time it will CDL will lock as they start freeing back up, without lights indicating. Ss be alter to wheels binding on turns, as happens in CDL lock position.
Bump for this. It took me 10 mins of back and forth driving, in and out of L gear and engaging the center diff lock in H gear, but this worked. No parts needed. No 27mm wrench purchase on the jungle store. 2006 w/ 215k. Last time I hit the center diff lock before this winter, and 6 inches of snow, was winter 2023-24 200k miles

My issue was like many here. My 2000 LC was not recognizing the dash CDL activation switch position. My center diff lock was not engaging and the diff lock light on the dash would not illuminate. I was able to identify a clicking of the relay behind the passenger dash when I cycled the CDL switch so I assumed my switch and relay were operational. I pulled the CDL sensor (Beck/Arnley part 210-1788) on top of the center diff and checked resistance and continuity with my multimeter. It appeared to be operational as continuity was good when pressed in. I ordered a new switch from Amazon for $20 and figured I’d start with the least expensive repair option. When I compared resistance between my old switch and the new one, the new one tested much higher. I installed it and immediately regained control of my center locking differential and the light on the dash was finally coming back on when activating the CDL dash switch. Thanks to those that figured this out and posted here!

Cheers
