Read the posts in search on C-Dan's remedy for the diff lock switch options on a 93 and was wondering if the wire harness has all the necessary wiring installed to put the switch in without a splice, plug and play as it were. I am contemplating moving up to a 93 vs. the 91 I have now and the 93 has front and rear lockers but not the switch for the cntr. Thanks for any help.

I have a 93. It did not come with the c-diff lock button, but I purchased one from C-Dan cheaply. Yes, it's as simple as they come. Simply un-plug the stock jumper-plug-thingie from the c-diff lock harness and plug in the new lock button. Re-install dash.

15-20 minutes, tops. No cutting, splicing, or cussing required.

Sure not 'required', but definetly encouraged!! :D Not sure on the '93 but on the '97 it's about a 5 minute job, if you can't find your screwdriver for the first 4 minutes of that... :D

Diff lock

I have only had the LC for a month now, and still getting used to it, I have not used the switch that says "diff lock" one of the reasons I have not used it, is bcause I have a Toyota Surf (4runner) and if you use the 4 wheel drive on anything other than mus and snow, it will wind the drive up, is this the case with the LC I have included a pic of the switch on the dash, I know these questions sound dumb, but I'm learning all the time.

You don't want to screw with the rotary switch that you have pictured unless you are going to be a low traction situation. It locks the differentials in the axles not in the transfer case. I know nothing about 90 series really, but unless it is full time 4wd you won't have the center differential switch that is mentioned in this thread.

Unless you're in low range, that rotary dial won't do a darn thing anyway. What this thread is specifically adressing is a push button switch that will lock the center differential, that rotary dial only locks the front or rear differentials, and has no bearing really on the center diff.

A note about driveline wind up while we're here. That rotary dial will NOT cause driveline wind up, it might cause the tires to chirp in turns on pavement, but wind up will not be an issue.

snow wolf, your front/rear diff locks need exercise or they can get seized up. Go find a gravel or earth parking lot and practice engaging them for a while and see how they do. It may take a while at first to work, and even some forwartd and reverse and turning of the wheel while moving. Once they are working right, every 60-90 days or so repeat. The diff windup won't be bad on gloose ground and you are only travelling a few yards anyway.

Hi Semlin....... I see the tree in your avatar is where i was back in September, Seqoia national park, while I was there it was very late in the day and just getting dark, and a couple of the cones fell next to me while having my pic taken, I must admit I was the wrong side of the wooded fence, but what the heck, I was an Englishman in another country and in England you can pick any fruit dropage ya like. so have two cones here next to me on my bedroon table, from one of the oldest trees on the world..... and feel proud that I have a little bit of that next to me while here on the PC see pic attached
