Finally back in an fj80, after a 10 year break (my last post is 13 years old!).
Sorry for a bit of a basic question, but I am searching for a thread on center console removals and can’t seem to find any for the early 80series. I’m sure it’s relatively simple task, I just don’t want to break anything figuring out the removal. Thanks , in advance for in help/ guidance

Center console around the shifter is just two bolts on each driver and passengen side.
The Center console (armrest/cupholder) is a few bolts in the bottom that bolt it to the floor with a lip that goes under the shift console.
The cup holder comes off with one or two screws.

Remove the two screws on each side near the middle. They are right in front of the seats when they are all the way back.
Remove the transfer case shifter knob
Remove the bolts in the bottom of the rectangle "cup" holder and the one in the bottom of the arm rest.
Pull the console towards the back to clear the dash and then up and out. I usually have to put the gear shifter as far back as possible to clear it.

Thanks for the step by step! Planning on replacing the shifter backlight and this is a big help
