getting sprayed with poly primer and 033 toyota white manana. need to have new wider fenders made since I put new 6 lug hubs on to be able to use toyo split rims so i can share the spare tire to cut down on weight. the frame was rust bulleted and then POR15 after, now getting the top half done and inside with RB and then lineX. after that i will put my new 3/4" marine grade top. and spray my RTT rack black to match frame.

did you get the e-brake to work on yours? I took me a long time to get that freed up. One thing i did figure out is that the top of the e-brake lever turns so that you can set the tension for the breaks. But maybe to already know that.

cheers

lol, yeah figured it out not too long ago and I have had the trailer 2 years. and yes it works, I had to fit it diff for where it used to mount I have my RTT rack bolted up.

Very nice man... Keep up the good work. Please keep me updated on this build. you have done a great job so far. I am also building a trailer, and enjoy seeing different ideas.

Love the elevated bar set up for the RTT.. was thinking about similar set up so I can put the RTT on the trailer that carries my 12' flyfishing punt.
Nice work...I'm taking notes.

thank you fellas, in these pics I have not put back on the 2 gas springs that actually lift the rack system up, it works great I can say that but I have been using 2-150lb springs and it is way too much for with one person on each side it is a son of a bi*** to pull back down and lock the pins in traveling/ down position, so I am going to buy 2-75 or 100lb springs and try that? these pics are of course in the down position(traveling) when fully extended it is about another 18" or so? where it sits now I am able to still lift each section of lids which are 18" a piece and fold up towards the middle. My other tent threads show better pics of it.

no new pics, been trying to finish up BJ42 resto. actually just had new wider fenders finally made for trailer in which are not at body shop getting painted. will post when I get them on. swapping out the pair of 150lb gas springs that lift the RTT to 100lb pair. dual 150's are a bit** to pull it back down to riding height.

Trailer is looking great! Question for you...I really like the lid design, how did you make it waterproof/resistant and the seams where it folds?

have not done nothing for lid weatherstripping yet? trying out the marine grade wood to see how it holds up and if doenst then I will have same design made but in metal 1" tubing with metal flat steel top. then i will buy weatherstripping to put inbetween each and on top edge of railing. i like thi sdesign becuase i can open one section which is basically 15" to get in and get a soda from cooler or whatnot. or open all sections and the rack is still lowest position in which is how it rides. again, it raise another 18" with gas springs when deployed to camp which puts the bottom of the tent just a little over 6'.

on the park brake, yes i remounted to be able to add rack system and fuel/ water containers, had to make a small bracket for it and then bolted to rail. works great, brakes work great and want to keep for camping.

so with these pics you can see it in down position and up, you can open lids all the way up in either up or down, and you see that this kendorf electrical conduit hanging system holds more than enough weight (in this pic we r close to 700lbs if not more)

Nice trailer.
One thing, I did exactly the same rack for my tent as you and one thing I found was it is very tippy on the trails, so much so it made for a very unpleasant trip the first time I took it out.... The tent IMO should be no higher than just over the lid on the box... Try it carefully:beer:

Wow, it's really come together! I forgot what the PVC tube carries (below the box): is that your awning?

actually I have 2 sets of original fenders now, I had to have new fenders made out of much heavier steel and look really good, they will be installed this next week and I will post pics, body shop wanted alot of $$$ to widen them.

the PVC was going to be for awning but I installed a heavy duty landing leg from a M101 1.5 ton trailer for it is really sturdy.
