@landylover21 did you have any install issues with the DT catback? Their site lists it for 99-05. Like you, I have a 98.

Installed on my 98 no problem (beyond expected breaking bolts free)

Was there any improvement in miles per gallon / miles on a tank?
I've seen about a 0.5 mpg improvement, YMMV. Headers in the garage waiting time to go in, still on the fence on the cats though.

BTW, LOVE the sound, slight drone at 2k doesnt bother me and anytiem in the city the sound is freakin sweet ;)

Thanks!

I did a similar swap in my 98 Tacoma TRD years ago and gained 30 miles extra per tank.

I looked on DTs website and didn’t see the cat back listed for the 100. Does anyone have a link?

As others have mentioned, no problem here; a few bruised knuckles but that's it.

Anybody else have new thoughts on this? It's back on my brain and I never ended up doing it. Again, is it worth going for the full system or just putting a different muffler on and calling it good?

In my humble opinion, doing a full exhaust is only needed if you are looking to change the exhaust note, you won't see any gains otherwise unless you do headers, cats and full exhaust. In which case you will need to justify spending $2000 just to gain a few horsepower and maybe a mpg ot two.
I would just replace the muffler and move on with my life.
But again, that's just my opinion.
