You know me Brian. I'll buy, test and report honestly.

Thanks, Anthony. You will likely be the first to try this out.

I have a certified welder on board . He has 25 years of real world experience in welding and fabrication of all types. On top of that, he's a gear head.

I hope second behind you!! How can I complain about that??

Need sound recordings when this happens. Fast passes and full throttle thanks

I need to get a video of what the exhaust on my Audi S5 sounds like. Down pipes and cat back. AWE tuning. LOVE LOVE LOVE the sound of that. And it is just a little 4.2L V8. Car looks like a sleeper till I open it up. Gotten a couple compliments on the exhaust on the way home from work. If I could do that on the LC, then I would be one happy camper. lol

I very much appreciate what you are after. We can get the smaller 5.0L 2UR-GSE engine from the Lexus IS-F or RC-F to sound exotic... the 5.7 3UR-FE will take a higher state of tune to get that.... short answer, we won't get that sound from this truck tuned engine with just the exhaust. We can get something nice, though.

Imagine if the 200 Series produced this?

That sounds great

Brian,
Perhaps integrate an X pipe ahead of the muffler to improve sound.
I have a neighbor who has the TRD exhaust on his Tundra. In my opinion it's a terrible sounding exhaust. Something is just off with it. Probably the fact that it uses exhaust manifolds and a true dual rather than headers and a x pipe.
Something to consider.

Man, that sounds bad-ass!

Can anyone here explain whether there is an advantage other than sounding puRRRty?

I know some of these changes on other vehicles can open up a few more HP, but I'm curious with the LC.
Also curious about passing smog if eliminating cat (maybe you're not proposing that?).
Just have a hard time spending on it unless there is a benefit beyond sound factor...

Anyone?

I'm not sure if the X is required or would be of benefit in the basic system w/ single tailpipe... It would merge only to divide and then quickly merge again in the center of the muffler. The stock headers/manifolds and downpipes are essentially the same on the 200 and Tundra... I do not like the sound of the full dual TRD system, either.

Well at least we agree on that.
I'll try to get a video of the M5s Dinan Exhaust this weekend if nothing other than to one up the Lexus ISF. 8400 redline v10 is nice.
Edit:
Here you go. Wasn't warmed up for only 7,000 redline.

There will be some power gain, nothing huge with just a modest cat back system of this type. 5 - 10 hp is good estimate.... and if I do it right, there will be no losses down low at part throttle. We are not touching any of the converters... just ahead of the muffler and then back. Another benefit is that this will be a competitively priced replacement system... the stock system is made from lower grades of stainless, and eventually it will deteriorate past the point of being usable.

I agree on that, too... a V10 sounds great... hard to compare a V8 to it, but one has to admit, some V8 engines sound amazing... the sound of an old 350 Chevy they are not.

LFA is one of the all time best engine/exhaust sounds. The last ten to fifteen years has had some great naturally aspirated cars. 458, F12, LFA, M3 (v8), M5, R8, Vanquish, RS4, Carrera GT and my favorite the McLaren F1.
Can't to see what Brian Comes up with. Not expecting it to sound like and of these.

test drove a 2015 M3 last weekend - non-v8 its a inline 6 with twin turbo and that car was brutal to the road. not sure what exhaust sytem is on it but it was sweet. surprised about the inline 6 at first. Wonder if the LC would ever go that route - it was a torque monster with the fatest power band I've ever seen (1800rpm and up)

Might have been partially the piped in fake exhaust sound. I unplugged mine from my M4 and it made the cabin very quiet. But I agree, the new M3/M4 is absolutely fantastic, torque everywhere and it pulls all the way to redline. People complain, but I prefer the new grand touring focus of the new M3/4s. Drove a few hours to Nevada with no fatigue, and the occasional jaunt to "well over the speed limit". The M2 needs to be/remain visceral though. Looking forward to driving one.

Serious? How do they pipe in fake sound???
