Fellow 200-series owners:

Would you purchase a cat-back exhaust system for your LC if it were available?

My preference would be a Corsa Performance Kit due to their known high-quality reputation.

(If you have another preference, please list it below.)

So, please vote if you would be interested in having a cat-back exhaust designed for your LC!

I would love it. But, I don't want it to sound like a boat as so many others do. It needs to sound high end, similar to the "DINAN" aftermarket exhaust system for BMW's. It sounds similar to a formula race car exhaust note if your not familiar with DINAN. I can't stand flowmasters. They sound cheap and they are cheap.

I would rather purchase a bolt-on cat-back kit, but if I have to, I can have a good exhaust shop who I've worked with in the past custom mandrel bend 3" pipe following the stock routing and just purchase my muffler of choice.

This would put Corsa off the list as they will not sell me just the tuned muffler they use for the Tundra and Sequoia kits. Oh well...

I could always use a Borla muffler, though.

I'm going to call around and see if I can get just the tuned muffler from these applications.

Don't want to hijack post but is kinda related. Why did Toyota not place armor around muffler? My wife's 2006 470 has it. Seems it would be the first thing to catch upon departure.

Because it would sound even better if it got a hole in it!!!

I'd look around at some local high end shops if you have some.

I had the Borla Cat-Back on the 100 and eventually replaced the muffler with an SLP and removed the resonator all together

On the 60, I have the Man-A-Fre header, no CAT and Flowmaster Super 44 and it rocks!

I guess it comes down to personal taste as far as how loud you wanna go.

I like my s*** loud:

Doug Thorley has the specs already, just need to call them.

Ask for Nick.

Yeah I should call them. I sent an email, however never got a reply.

I'd still like you to email me a video of it! I want to hear it!

I cutout the factory muffler (that f*cker is huge!) and installed a magnaflow 18" oval (dual 3" in/ single 2.5" out). It pales (sizewise) in comparison. Sounds beefy now!

There are four cats in the exhaust system, 2 per side off the headers (there is no Y-pipe -- only the muffler). The first 2 are in front of the rear O2 sensor, while the other 2 are afterwords. Eventually I will remove the 2 rear cats and only leave the front 2. If you remove the front 2, you would need to reprogram the vehicle so it would recognize the removed cats or else you will have a check engine light on all the time. Good luck with that...

I also left the rear resonator alone as I didn't want the highway drone.

Well, it sounds great and there really is no point in a cat back system if you have a welder or know a good exhaust guy. The factory pipes are all mandrel bent and are very cleanly routed.

Oh, and no tip to dent.... I left the stock tip which drops under the ARB rear bumper. Shouldn't get caught on anything.

I'll do a sound clip eventually....

sexy picture.

did you notice any change in the power curve with the new muffler?

The weird thing is that I do. I've had exhausts in the past, and most I've never felt before.

I think with such a large engine with a MASSIVE muffler, Toyota really sacrificed power for noise.

I do not feel any difference in the low end, but a pretty major difference in mid-rpm punch, such as when passing.

I wish there was a 4 wheel dyno around here somewhere that I could have got a before/after done.

Magnaflow Part #

JB, do you know the part# on the MagnaFlow webiste that you used on your LC?

Thanks,

Nope. I don't remember. It is an 18" 5x8 oval, but i do not recall exactly the inlet/outlet dimensions. Also, the piping on the 200 is metric. We had to use a spacer welded inside the outlet to adjust for the gap. On the new mandrel bent pipes we used for both the inlets, we had to stretch the pipe a bit. Also, we had to hack off the heatshields on the top of the two inlet pipes. They are there to protect the rubber grommets, but were not needed once the muffler was removed. We welded on some new hangers as well to replace the one's that were removed from the OEM muffler.

All in all, it sounds great and has no drone at 80mph on the highway. I left the resonator in for this reason and wound not recommend removing it.
