Just intalled the OME caster bushings and found a neat trick. A 1/4" copper pipe is a tight slip fit in the caster bushings. I cut two hunks about 8" long and used one arm as an alingment jig for the other and then swapped back. Simple and effective...

I would also like to thank Cristo for the bushing press tool. this would have been an ugly job without it. Not sure what kind of value the rest of you put on customer service but little details like that one gaurantee Cristo gets more of my $$$ in the future.

Cheers

Chris

good to year squeezer. I feel the same about christo's customer service and attention to detail. He has gotten plenty of my $ and will continue to.

now what exactly did you do?

I'm not able to picture this either!

Believe he appropriately marked both control arms after suspension install, removed them both, removed bushings from one, stuck 1/4 inch pipe through the center of the bushings on the other, used the pipe as reference points for the first to ensure he got the correct bushing spacing center to center for the new bushings, then used the first with the newly installed correction bushings as a template for the second control arm. (I.e made a template using one control arm and pipe.)

Also have read about someone using bolts and a 1x4 to do relatively the same thing.

Sounds like the way to go, now I just need to find a 20-ton press so I can install this pesky OME medium sitting in the garage and staring me down each time I go by......

I guess I'm in need of "caster correction bushing install 101". No freak'n clue.

hey,
does anyone feel the frame bushing should be replaced as well since you've got the arms off?
My truck has 170k on it and I was thinking that it would be a good idea to do ALL the bushings on the control arms.

Am I being silly?

I thought it only mattered on the rear control arms, as those bushings have the "pillows" and had a TSB issued on them.

OK....
so... 2nd question, should I put OEM Toyota bushings in (my guess) or poly bushings.
If poly, where would I get them?

pretty shure "man-a-fre" if not "Cruiser Dan"
