With all the rain going on I figure it was time to make a build thread on my lx450, Casper. Funny enough I found this lx a few years ago sitting in salvage yard...waiting for it’s time.
I was there looking for some datsun parts..and figured why I was there I’d just take a picture of it. Well fast forward around 2 years later, I had the itch to get into a locked 80 series. After searching online for one, it was quite apparent these things Hold their value well. Really I knew exactly what I wanted in my mind, was a 96 (year I was born), locked, lx450 in white. I totally forgot about this white Lexus I seen a few years back..and doubted it was still there. I honestly didn’t know anything about this Vehicle other then it needed work and it was a white Lexus haha. So I decided that I’d give the old man a call that had it and see if it was still around. Sure enough he still had it...sitting in the same spot as before. I asked how much he wanted for it...he thought for a second and said, I’d probably get $400 for scrap, so bring me $500. Well I’m sure you can guess I was sold, and made the 2 hour drive that weekend to pick it up.
To be completely honest, the original reason I bought the vehicle was For the frame and axles, for my recently acquired fj60. On the phone the guy told me he didn’t have a title for it..so I knew it was going to be parts only. I was praying that it had lockers..but they were rare to find on the lx450...so doubted that i would get lucky. When I arrived, he had the lx out in the open to load on the trailer. When I opened the door...what do you know, it had lockers, haha! I was smiling from ear to ear....but to make matters even better, when I glanced at the dash, there sat the title! It was now official, I owned a white 1996 lx450, with factory lockers!!
once I got back home I started going through all the stuff inside. I opened the glove box and what do you know, there sat the damn window sticker haha! It confirmed the fact that this vehicle had basically every option you could buy! So as you could imagine I was thrilled. The lx went from being only used for parts, to now going to be my daily driver.
