While I was wheeling yesterday, I struck a rock that I didn't see. I think it got a few others as well. I was going at a pretty decent speed so it did some pretty good damage to the first thing it hit, the front mount for the lower A-Arm on the driver side.

As it continued under the truck it did a little damage to the composite skid plate, then the crossmember that supports the tranny, then the fuel tank skid plate, then rear axle housing, then the rear sway bar.

Most of these are just cosmetic things, no biggie. Battle scars. But I need to fix the damage to the A-arm mount. The metal is very thick, about 1/8". I'll see if I have enough strength to beat it back in place with a small sledge.

When I hit it, there were some :censor: words that came out of my mouth that my children don't normally hear from me.

It's about time to put the armor on Marc! I know a guy that does metal fab work. He want's to go to the Jan. meeting. He looked at my sliders and said he can build them. he also said he has access to the material and equipment to get it all done. Of course you have the hundy, so my lame 80 probabaly would not work. I can pull off my sliders so he can replicate if anyone is interestead.

Marc,

See if you can use a large crescent wrench (10" or larger if the head fits) to bend that piece back before going at it with a hammer. Your pics are really good and helps with understanding of the damages. Now, if only you learn to use emoticons to express your feelings better :D

Ex: when I started spitting out :censor:words that kids didn't need to hear

Sure you want to start that again? Well Shawn started it but you encouraged it more.

Good idea. I debated trying my large prybar but couldn't figure out how to get it in there and what to pry against. Plus, I think it would just flex too much and not result in much bending.

I just want to get the :censor: straight enough that it isn't binding up the bushing and scraping on the A-arm. I don't detect any effect on the alignment.

When it comes time to change those bushings, you'll need to have the sides nice and straight for an easy A arm extraction. Don't forget to rust proof spray it after you're done and got it cleaned up. I'd heat up the paint can in some water and heat up the area with the propane torch so that the paint will stick to it better. Perhaps hitting with a quartz halogen work lamp for an hour or two after spray will do the trick.

Umm, this is Marc we're talking about. He'll merely just drag the "no sliders, I got to be careful and can't attend most runs" excuse for the next 18 years. :flipoff2:

Int'rested, for my 60...

You've got a fab shop at the casita all setup Carol? Cool.

We knew that when he got a 100 instead of an 80 plus mods...

:bang:

Come on Marc, don't take this crap from these guys. Hike up your panties and show them what you are made of! We know those flesh wounds are nothing for a Hundy. Like Onur said, they will buff out.

I'm severely outnumbered. I'm going to go hide in the corner and lick my wounds.

I've looked at those pics 4 times and can't see the damage you guys are talking about. Will someone please modify those pictures and draw circles around the "damaged" areas?

TIA.

Maybe you should pull out the bifocals to see the pictures better. :flipoff2:
