Hey everybody,

I figured out part of the problem with why my 3/1976 FJ40 (just bought it last week) won't run for more than a couple seconds . . . I think. I was watching PinHead0001's videos on YouTube on how to rebuild an Aisan carburetor when I discovered THERE'S A ROD MISSING from the outside of my carburetor!

Here's a picture of what it SHOULD look like. The rod with the arrows is the one that's missing. Please, someone tell me where I can find this part!

Thanks!

Thanks for the mention Danny. I'm keeping a tight rein on my linkage inventory to make sure I can service the messed up carbs that get sent to me for rebuilding.

FWIW, I think wrecker Ray moved to BTB, in your backyard.

I can make one for you--modeled after my 75 carb--I think it would fit just fine.(you might need to bend it a little here and there to get it just right--)It won't have the little groove on the ends for the circlip, but I think I can drill a small enough hole so you could use the std hairpin

Wow! Thanks! I did email Spector Off Road to inquire re this part. I'll keep you posted if I'll need to take you up on this.

Thanks Gary (@sggoat)!!

I understand Mark's (@65swb45 ) concern... He rebuilds carb's and needs to keep the all the little parts.

BTB is BTB Products

Sounds like Gary's got you covered!!

I have two types of high idle rods, but the one I showed looks more like the one in the SOR picture. The other one is angled at 45 degrees at the top and the end at the bottom points in toward the carb rather than out. If the first one doesn't work, he can try the other one.

Congratulations. I didn't know that SOR wanted that much. Back when I had my 40 people were sometimes giving away their Aisan carb or selling it cheap when they got a Weber and I was taking advantage of their generosity. I included the little clips on the ends, so be careful unwrapping it so you don't lose them.
