I remember reading a while back someone who was rebuilding carbs...Just picked up another cruiser 1985 FJ60....she has 178k on the clock but sounds and smells if the carb could use a rebuild....I would love to do myself, but with my 1yr old and playing Mr. Mom when the wife works opposite hrs so no daycare....I barely have time to scratch my butt...:crybaby:

It takes longer to remove the carb than to rebuild it. Even if you spend a bunch of time soaking the parts in Berrymans it can be left unattended.

Last time i did it i had it off, cleaned and back on in an hour (float was already set). I thought it was dirty, turns out i had set the timing to the wrong mark (Idiot!!)

You can ask Jim C to do it, but it's the difference between $20 and $300 + downtime unless you're getting mods done IMHO
