Carb rebuild.....Who? (1 Viewer)

I remember reading a while back someone who was rebuilding carbs...Just picked up another cruiser 1985 FJ60....she has 178k on the clock but sounds and smells if the carb could use a rebuild....I would love to do myself, but with my 1yr old and playing Mr. Mom when the wife works opposite hrs so no daycare....I barely have time to scratch my butt...

It takes longer to remove the carb than to rebuild it. Even if you spend a bunch of time soaking the parts in Berrymans it can be left unattended.

Last time i did it i had it off, cleaned and back on in an hour (float was already set). I thought it was dirty, turns out i had set the timing to the wrong mark (Idiot!!)

You can ask Jim C to do it, but it's the difference between $20 and $300 + downtime unless you're getting mods done IMHO
