Ok, I'm a novice when it comes to carbs. I just installed my newly rebuilt carb and I can't get her to run. She will run fine if I prime it manually (dribbling gas directly into the carb), but dies as soon as I stop feeding her gas.

The rebuilder is experienced and has rebuilt Cruiser carbs before with no problem.

The throttle linkage appears to be working correctly

The choke is working correctly

The accelerator pump appears to be working correctly from what you can see externally.

My bubble shows fuel 1/2 way up

Fuel pump is working fine

The vacuum lines and idle solonoid are reconnected correctly

I have tried about every combination of throttle position, holding down, pumping, none, 1/2 way. The throttle "works" when adding gas manually, but it appears she's not getting gas on her own. I ran out of light and time before I tried looking directly in the carb to see if I could see gas entering. I did let her run for about 5 minutes adding gas manually.

Is there something simple I'm missing?

Is there a common mistake that could have happened during rebuild?

Did I do a search before posting this? (I'll answer that one, nope :D )

I don't have a magic fix but it sounds like the primary fuel circuit must be clogged up. If the bowl is full gas, and the engine obviously has enough vacuum to run on added gas, there must be a blockage beeteen the main jet and the venturi. You might be able to back flush it with some compressed air. With some creative tube bending, you might be able to blast some air into the venturi at the top of the carb but you may have to resort to removing the top half of the carb to verify that the passages are clear.

This same type of thing happened to me.
'Cept I rebuilt the carb myself.
Turns out the idle mixture screw was set wrong. And was a bit beat up. So I had to get a new
one.
A friend of mine who is a wizard with carbs helped me tune it up proper. After he was done, it
purred like a kitten at around 850 RPM, starts on the second revolution every time and takes
off without hesitation anymore.
