I just bought a '78 carb from someone on this board, I am putting it in a '71. The 78 has WAY  more vaccum lines and stuff than my old one did. Can anyone point me in a direction where to figure out where all these go, and which ones I need and dont need.

Can I just plug all the vaccum lines off and run it like that?

What you need to do is get a FSM that covers the new carb, and figure out what all those fittings are for, and if one is irrevelant to your engine, plug it. I imagine you will use at least 3 of them. (PCV, Choke adjuster deal, and gas vapor emissions line).

Search the lcml archives for Jim Chenoweth's desmog diagrams

Or go to the tech section here at IH8MUD and look at Fuel/Engine Tech. There are two versions there.
