Parts of the road. Years ago there was an article about a guy who blew a piston and replaced it with a hunk of tree to limp out of the outback. I have no idea where to find the article now. Maybe someone else will chime in.

i believe that would have been the old recluse muse granville king, when he was reciting his baja misadventures for four wheeler magazine. they've been republishing them sporadically as of late. everyone of em is a good read with some better than others.

Most of you will know about the famouse rally Dakar , in 1982 the first place was taken from a Renault 20 , 2 wheel drive !
so not necessary you need big tires , big engine a lot of HP , and fancy stuff , to win a Dakar race as long as 15000 km .
