Need some brain power here! I have a 73 FJ40 with a mini truck case and toy box with an 89 split case. I've had it apart a couple of times and I hate to think about doing it again. I have the twin stick shifter from AA so it it a direct shift front to rear. I just can't get it into low range. I push on it fairly hard, but it feels like it is at it's limit. I was gonna take the bracket off and drop the shift bar down and see if maybe there is another slot for it to be in. (inside the case). any ideas from anyone who has had this problem when putting the split case together. It is my first and maybe I missed something. thanks, Steve.

Unhook the linkage from the shifter and try and move it with your hand right on the piece of linkage that attaches to the transfer case. Softly push down /pull up a little on the piece that goes into the transfer case as you try and rotate it.

Howdy! You might try bumping the clutch to rock the rig a bit while you are pulling on the shifter. Sometimes they need a little incentive. John

I tried moving it by hand when I first got it and had to use a hammer. I looked at it while I had it apart and everything looked good. The fork moved smoothly and I thought all was well. I've also tried bumping the clutch thinking "maybe it was binding up. It's almost like it hasn't got anymore room to move. I guess I'm doomed to drain it again. Hate it, cause the toybox shares oil with it. I manage to get gear oil all over me and the floor!! Only good part is, Ive had it apart a couple of times and I'm getting good at it! ha!

Hey El Presidente you should swing over and say "hi" on the NFcruiserheads board sometime.

I had the same problem with a split case before, My memory is foggy but I think it was because the 2-4 shifter on top the case was sitting too low and needed a washer under it.
