Can't buy the bumper I want, so I'm going to build it... (1 Viewer)

I would be interested in a kit too since my wife just spun out and tweaked the stock bumper. It makes a good excuse to spend some money on a new one. I would want just the lower section with the winch mount.

Got the prelim sheet cuts done and to the fab shop today. I should hear back on initial pricing by end of this week.

Plan is to cut/bend some scrap to mock one up and get the cut files correct. Modify files accordingly, then cut a single bumper and fab it up. Take pics and see who's interesed here. Should have something available by first-of-year.

We are slow at work right now and looking for some stuff for one of our skilled welders to work on, so assembled bumpers will probably be the initial offering and *maybe* some "kits" later... maybe.

you's crazy foo! Sounds awesome, thats custom bumper design number what, that came out before slee? CHRISTO GET YOUR BUTT IN GEAR!

By the way, that rear bumper on the 4r looks amazing. Great work.

LOL. I would be seriously considering one of Christo's bumpers even at this point - if they were available.

Thanks on the rear 4Runner bumper compliments. It was a bit of work, but like this project, I got what I wanted, the way I wanted it, that money simply couldn't buy. I also got the satisfaction of having a one-off that I built as icing on that cake.

Would you consider selling the templates for all of the cuts/bends? You could have them printed out full size and include a cd with the cad file on it. Most folks could probably bring the cad files to a shop and have the pieces done. This would save you a lot of hassle with shipping. Just a thought.

This is sort of like deja vu. I was going through the same thing at this time last year. Like you, I wanted something specific, and I got what I wanted. It is good for the mind working on these projects as you have to think of how it will look and what it takes to get it to function correctly.

Template idea would be great!

That's a DAMN good idea! I have a 48" plotter, so getting full-size prints with dimensions would be easy enough. Hmmm, that sure would alleviate a LOT of headache with building & shipping steel, and it would also give the DIYers something to work from.

Is the intention to reuse the factory fog lights?

Yup, reuse them...

Awesome!

Where do I send my money for the template? RTP! (Ready to purchase!)

count me in!

Count me in depending on price!

Just skimmed through, could have missed it, but is the bumper gonna be winch capable??

Just shipped an ARB almost across the country and it was about $150 bones. Not very bad in my mind. If you ship it the right way and with the right people it shouldnt be a killing.

Best custom bumper Ive seen yet! Keep it going! I think you have many interested so let us know a rough price as soon as possible!

Thanks!

you should mos def just print and sell full size prints of your CAD files. I'd mos def be interested in purchasing a copy! Also, the CD idea works because someone can easily get full sized prints done. Or, you can send the file over email for a small fee to the people you have AutoCAD, that would mos def benefit me

I really like the idea of the template. Cross border shipping could be expensive.

I would be in to, cross boarder basically kills my bussiness.

|Are you offering templates or cad drawings so we can get the pieces cut by a cnc table. rclassman@shaw.ca

Pieces are being cut now, and some will be tacked up later today. Initial fitment should start tomorrow. :D

Cut pieces could be shipped via greyhound for $75. I would rather just buy the template or figure out a place that I could print out the sheets from a file. What would I search on for local printing of these templates? Kinkos?

Pictures would be great, even during the tac together phase.

A pre-cut bumper kit would be the easiest way to go like the stuff Luke (4X4LABS) sells.

Pre cut should easliy ship Greyhound for 75.
