PO installed this light switch for an upcoming aux light install right before I bought it, he stated at the time it's an OEM switch. Currently it is not hooked up to anything and does not light up.

1) Is it an OEM light switch, and if not, anyone take a guess at to the manufacturer? I like the look and feel of it and would like some more.
2) How do I remove (how is it secured?) without messing up my :princess: nice woodwork? :flipoff2:

Cheers!

Yes its an OEM switch for aux. lights. I use it on my 4runner aux. lights, if iits not hooked up to anything it could easily be popped out. I would just leave it until you add aux. lights.

That is the accessory 4Runner switch, 00550-35976. It is OEM in the sence that it is marketed by Toyota in the US but it is not a Japanese OEM switch. It is supplied by a US vendor (I do not know who). I do stock them.

Oh,

 The current suggested list price is $12.35 a rattle.

Yeah it's a Toyota swtich. I put one in my 80 to bypass the DVD disable while driving. It has a lead for a the light but problaby not hooked up. I can track down the Toy part number if someone doesn't post it. I think I paid $11 for mine. I think it is from a post 2000 4runner.

Yep - that looks like a Toyota OEM light switch. I used the same one on mine as an ignition cutoff switch. The switch just presses into the hole in the dash. You might try wrapping the end of a small screwdriver in tape and then prying the edge of the switch. The tape should prevent scratches to the wood grain. FYI - these switches are available on e-bay for around $5.

Wow! Thanks for the quick response guys. I think I will be using it on the install of my new PIAA's once they get here ..... I have the feeling my lights shipped with the usual PIAA light switch which I dont care for at all, with that wire hanging out of the base of it.

C-Dan - You happen to have a pic of what a JDM light switch looks like for comparison?

Is that switch installed upside down?

Also, if one does not have the woodgrain dash, does the 4runner switch sit flush with the dash?

Thanks,
Charlie

I'd like to know this as well. It's not quite fitting flush and I wonder if it's because of the wood trim. What other switches are there for lights that mount in the vertical position? Where the OEM fog light switch goes I have the security light thingy so I'd like to find something that is nice that is vertical.

Sounds like a lot, but prce the molex connectors, then the time to solder the pigtails on etc etc. If we could source the Toyota pigtail it would be better, but we have not been able to do it.

AN OEM connector body would be 5-6 bucks and each individual wire splice about the same. You'd be in that part of it 25 bucks by the time you finished.

Certainly did not mean to imply the price was out of line, just surprised at how spendy some of these things can be sometimes. It's a nice addition that you solder the pigtails.

The rear window switch for my 90 bronco was 60 bucks, hard to find, and did not have any of the exra work put into it like Slee's has. I have Slee's and they are nice.
