I'm new to the LX570 but I always follow the Mgf. Service recommendations in the owners manual. I'm using the Austin Lexus dealer for service since my 2011 is still under warranty. At the 30k mile service interval the Lexus manual states "re-torque and lube the drive shaft" just like on the LX470. So I asked them to re-torque and lube the drive shaft during the 30k mile visit along with changing the oil/filter and brake fluid. When I picked up my LX570 the tech had printed under the request that the re-torque and lube was not required at 30k miles and was not done. The service advisor then told me that on the newer LX570's they "never" re-torque and lube the drive shafts that Lexus no longer has them do that service.

Anyone find this to be true?? Are there Zerts on the LX570 drive shaft like the LX470? (Had eye surgery so I can crawl under to check right now) Has any other members had the drive shaft on their LC 200 or LX570 re-torqued and lubed? I'm going to meet with the dealerships GM on this and some other stuff and would like some input from other owners.
Thanks

I just had the dealership do it on my 2013 LC a couple of months ago. I do all the other maintenance myself, but didn't want to hassle with rotating the propeller shafts (front and rear) to reach all the fittings - and dig through my "miscellaneous tools" drawer for that weird shaped socket extension that would reach all the bolts to re-torque them.

Dealer said it was easy, did it for free, and gave me a print-out of a 15-point "safety" inspection when the service was done.

Here's what the front looks like:

And here's the rear:

Very pleased with the response I got back from the GM and Service director of Lexus of Austin. They acknowledge their mistake and will take care that it is taken care of at my next service plus they gave me a $100 service credit to use on future service. Now that's the Lexus I've learned to know and love!

Too bad it took them a second chance to make good, though.

Glad you got it sorted.

One would think after so many years they would know their LX 570 by now. obviously all years 08 on are quite similar.

My guess is that if you took your LX570 in for the 15k or 30k etc. service where the driveline is suppose to be lubed and re-torqued is would not happen. Most would just say the 30k mile service was completed and you would see a list of parts used. Since the driveline service is all labor you will never know. I got under my LX470 to confirm and it was not done so I bought a grease gun and did it myself. Then I talked with the dealer service manager and he apologized and stated he was going to have a meeting with his management team and make sure it never happened again. So when I brought my LX570 in and they did not say they lubed it, the tech wrote on the work order not required at 30k miles. I kind of lost it.
