Help with turn signal wiring on a 40?

Guys,

I recently purchased a turn signal lever etc from a member here. I have never had a stock turn signal before so I don't know how it installs. Does anyone have a picture of a stock turn lever installed on a 1970 (not sure if it matters) 40??

Please post if you do so I can put this thing on. Any assistance on wiring it up?

Thanks,
Jonny

I know its of no help now, But I could get you a pic this evening of my 71.
Do you have the relay rod down the column that goes into the switch? do you need a pic of it all?
Good luck

I am not sure what I have! I won't be installing until tonight or tomorrow, so if you have a picture this evening that would help a great deal.

Thank you very much,
Jonny

Then you should post up some pictures of what you have so that someone could help you figure that out...

Is this what you have?

First pic is the switch and connecting rod

Second pic is the lever and housing

Yes, this is exactly what I have...Now I just need to know how it attaches  I'm new with these vehicles and have never seen a stock one so not quite sure how parts go together...

Thanks,
Jonny

Here is how the switch mounts to the steering column:

Post up if you need help getting it to work electrically.

Sorry for being a moron - but where does the clamp attach to on the steering column based on your third picture? Is it in front or behind the arm for the brake pedal?

I will def need some wiring help when I get this on :D

Thanks man,
Jonny

There is actually a hole in the steering column, and a little pin (more like a bump) on the clamp bracket. The pin goes in the hole and that aligns and stabilizes everything. Find the hole and the pin and you'll see where it goes.

Hmm, I guess I need to get these glasses of mine checked ;) Thank you sir. I will take a look again tonight for it.

I see said the blind man... Let me see I should have a better pic somewhere...

Ah, here we go...

That was my first "lol" of the day ;)

Picture is exactly what I needed. Thank you very much, now I can get this thing put on. I will be sure to bug you tomorrow with wiring help!

Not quite sure I understand that question, but the clamp would have to be in front of anything to do with the brake pedal.

You already know this but for those that don't: The housing clamp opens by removing the small screw holding the ends together then the clamp goes around the column. Align the rod with the lever housing, replace the screw, tighten and it's done. The pic shows where the screw is.

Coolerman,

The time has come :D Electrical help required.

I am working with some "aftermarket" wires so please bear with me.

So I have approx 6 wires coming from my turn signal.

On the wiring diagram it shows

S
FR
RR
B
FL
RL
S

I am guessing FR/RR = front right and rear right.
FL/RL = front left and rear left.

What does S and B stand for?

I have 3 wires coming off my flasher - 1 grounded and 2 others. I have one grouned, but where do the other 2 go?

One thing I have learned from doing this... PO - DO NOT RYNOLINE wiring harnesses :bang:

Thanks for your guidance,
Jonny

I have been up in Wisconsin for a couple of days so just getting back to this thread.

In an OEM system the B wire is the +12V feed from the Hazard switch.
The S is the +12V feed from the brake switch.

Is your flasher OEM or after market? The OEM flasher on my 2/71 is only a two wire system with the case grounded.

Whose harness do you have?
Are you planning on running the Hazard function?
