Wareagle1: an LC that you know and is in top condition is worthwhile. The 100 is designed for 250K miles with basic maintenance, so <70K is just a start. It is a bonus to have a warranty, but these vehickes are among the most reliable on the market. I prefer the 100 to the 200. The 06 is a nice one.

Alright men, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on that 2006 LC 100 in TX. I'm flying out this Thursday with a fellow Cruiser Head and we are going to drive 700 miles back to Alabama. I can't wait to be with my Cruiser! Thank ya'll very much for your help/advice. I'll post pictures when we are united at last.

2002 lx470 - service records

Everyone,
I have been looking and lurking for some time now. I found a 2002 lx470 yesterday at a local Mercedes Dealership. This is a one owner lx with 178,000 miles for about $13,000. I am intrigued by it because it has all service records from day one. The previous has maintained it perfectly. She even put a new nav unit and new tires in it last year. This is more miles than I was looking for, but this is the best documented car I have ever seen. What do you all think? Should I pay a premium for documentation or just look for something with lower miles? The only issue I can find is really cosmetic, the leather is aged ( but not cracked)...

I don't know where you are located, but private party book value is about $12k - $14.5k in Texas. I know it's not an exact price that will be paid in the market, but it gives you an idea. If they are asking $13k, they probably own it for around $10k, as a guess. If you really want it, negotiate with them. But dealers aren't uneducated, they know someone will come along and buy a LC/LX, even if they aren't getting a "deal."

In am in Mississippi, I agree that 13 is about the value. These auction for 11ish, so it is hard to get much cheaper from a dealer. I have just never bought a car wi so many miles. With that said, I have never seen one with so much documentation. The po must have really liked their dealership. They have replaced the nav, brakes, tires, wiper motor, ignition, some blown speakers, water pump, belts, etc, etc in the past year. It's is on top of regular, routine maintainence for its whole life. Maintained at the same dealership the whole time, traded for a new Benz last month.

That seems to be a nice lx. It is always hard to tell by the pics and it is a long way from home to check out. Do you know anything about it? Looks like what I am looking for....

I don't know anything about the one here. It's over an hour away, else I'd check it out for you.

I understand, seems like the more I look, the more of these I find. Makes it hard to make a decision. The one I am looking at is just about in my back yard. That makes it easy to check out and buy. Makes it a hell of a lot easier than email, phone and driving across mulitple states :)

Buddy at work picked up this nice LX for $9,000. 99 with 178,000 miles.

Making the 1.5 hr trip down to look at this guy in person tomorrow. Pics in the ad were from pre-detailing says dealer. Would love any input from the hundy crowd on any thing they see in these pics as red flags. It is a salvage title, piecing the history together through car fax and the Lexus vin search reveals the wreck was in 2000. Radiator and bumper ect replaced so major front end damage. Crappy pealing paint on the front bumper is obvious. Carfax says air bags didn't deploy but I don't know how a rough estimate of $30k in damage (to total a 2 yo LX) is done without that.

It was a possible title scrub job as it was taken to Mississippi for the rest of its life until recently returning to Tx via an Internet used car deal as per current dealer story. Most recent Owner had no idea it had a salvaged title in TX.

Decent service history at Lexus from new until 2007 including Lexus body shop work post accident. Last 7 years only one serving at a Toyota dealership for an oil change. Timing belt/water pump are unknown.

I've read Chirsto's buying guide just looking for more input on a somewhat unique situation.

I can tell you all the lower cladding and bumpers were painted as they always came in grey if the upper color was originally black. The front seats have been recovered. Picture shows one new tires which could be good or bad... as in hiding strange wear patterns. I'd also check all the VIN on each panel to see which ones were replaced vs resurfaced. Could give you a better idea of how bad the damage was.

Saw this car on CARMAX. Thinking about pulling the trigger on this one. However, KBB states value at approx. $30,000. CARMAX is selling it for $25,000.

Odometer reading about 100K. AutoCheck report states one accident on rear left corner. Car was in MN.

I currently own '98 LC with 266K miles on it and it's starting to show it's age.

Would appreciate your guys' opinion

Thanks.

Thanks for the set of eyes Hoser. Yeah I forgot to add that I realized they painted the lower cladding also. Yeah no way that driver seat is original. I'm with you on the tires also. Beyond feeling for play in the steering and obvious toe in/out and poor tracking/alignment anything to look for?

Is there a guide to the VIN placement on the body panels? I know I randomly would see the ones on our 80 series. I figure the front fenders are just under the hood top middle, hood near the latch?, what about the rear panels? Under the rear hatch?

How about feelings on the price?

I would put it on a rack and check for rust.
