Looking at an 01 Landcruiser with 121,xxx miles on it. One owner vehicle (company owned) in good condition with the expection that there is approximately $800 worth of damage to the rear passenger side door just in front of the wheel well and a scuff on the front bumper. Never been offroad nor smoked in and the interior is in good condition.

Thoughts? They are asking 15.9k for it.

I didn't know the 98-99 LXs didn't come with lockers....I'd choose the 02 then.

Ttora that's a lot of money for an 01 with body damage.

Thanks for the input guys! I really appreciate it.

I get what you are saying about ATRAC, I would love to have it. I drove the LX tonight, and it did not have a factory rear locker. I have a close friend who is a pro mechanic and sets up differentials. A locker can be added. Just like anything with 4x4s, all it takes is money Haha.

First time driving a Hundy, I am in love. The whole thing works together beautifully. What a great compromise between highway and trail Toyota found with this vehicle.

Long story short, the dealership worked with me and met me halfway on the deal I asked for. They are shopping loan rates in the morning. I will probably drive the LX 470 home tomorrow.

Bagged it.

My wife and dog love it LOL. My wife can put her foot on the passenger mirror out the window, couldn't do that in the Avalanche. Dog seems to like the visibility haha.

Threw a check engine light on the way home, the dealer said they will check it out. I'm hoping it is related to the new cats and O2 sensors. I took it to Autozone to get the codes, but the fuse that powers the OBD port seems to be blown. Autozone guy thought that the cig lighter fuse is usually also the OBD. I think I found the fuse, gotta grab some pliers and go back out to check.

I want to get the issue taken care of while I can still back out of the deal. But I am not real worried. I plan on keeping this thing :)

Looking at a 2001 LX 470. 147,000 miles. Like new condition, even the leather seats. No-nav. Always served at the Lexus dealership on schedule. New tires. Dealer wants $14,788. What do you think?

I think the '01 LX is an awesome buy - you can still find them with low miles, are the last year LX where nav was an option so you can put in a modern head unit, and they also have LATCH for child seats if you need them.

Do it - I have also been thinking about that truck but won't be buying for a few weeks. Talk them down a few thousand so I have some ammo when negotiating on my truck. ;)

Pay $11,788 and feel good about it... $15k is too much for an 01 with that many km's. Always negotiate when you are in the cash position of any transaction.

-check the headers at cold start for cracks (ticking sound at cold start, coming from the engine bay)
-check for a timing belt sticker, and look at the condition of it
-check exhaust and undercariage for rust, check the stabilizer bar links and bushings
-ensure the stereo is working (pump it up to check the speakers aren't blown)... check the disc player too, if you use that sort of thing
-check the a/c is working fine, mirror motors & tint
-ensure that the AHC is functioning correctly (count the bars on the between fluid levels in high and low mode... more than 7 is good)

Hello,
While the 98-99 LX's did not come with rear lockers, they did have a LSD. As I am living in East Tennessee now, I actually went to the Smokeys last weekend with a old high school bud who owns a 98 LX. We swapped out LX's for a bit and I must say that the non ATRAC/LSD setup felt quite good. That being said, the 98-99's had a 2 pinion front axle as opposed to the 4 pinion in 2000+ LX/LC's.
Best,
Jack

In the market for a 100 for the wife. She'd take an 80 even but need the rear air for kids during carpooling school season. Safety and reliability outweigh crappy gas mileage besides any good minivan is too much coin for us. Prices are all over as I'm looking all over and will travel within reason and ship it if too far away. Question is...is the 03 worth a few thousand more if a little higher mileage? I started out with a budget of 12k but seeing some higher mileage 03's for 15-17k, figure the 17k ones could be talked down, I'm looking at those now.

Or do I just find the best mileage/price combo that works for me and go with it? I love the idea of a 5 spd tranny and side curtain air bags of the 03 though.

I know you guys have heard every scenario but I've read hundreds of threads and I don't have anyone to else to talk to about it...my brain is fried. Thanks

A750F is nice, but keep in mind you lose the ability to change stereo/nav heads.

Howdy!
First post here after lurking around for sometime, and couldn't be happier with all the information I have gathered here so far. As a quick background, I am looking to purchase my first Land Cruiser for my daily driver here in Vermont. I have had a few different 4WD vehicles in the past (Jeep and Honda vehicles) but was never really satisfied with the level of quality and options for improvement. I am currently in a smaller Honda, but with two little girls, big dogs, and lots of ambition I need to move up to something a bit more capable. After some extensive searching, I came across this 2003 for sale in the Boston area:

Before I make the 4 hour drive down, I wanted some opinions on this vehicle, and also what to be careful of. I think the price is higher than it should be, but hope to work them down. Any and all advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Get it on a rack and look for rust.

2006 TLC $30,888- thoughts??

2006 TLC
$30,888
69,712 miles
full service records. clean carfax. I know exactly who owned it and for how long and it was serviced in the same dealership the past 6 years. It doesn't have AHC. I've seen it on the rack and its spotless. The tires are brand new BFG A/T's as well.

Is that price too high or is this a good deal?

Should be able to get that price down. I have seen 2008 with listed at that price, although with higher miles.

Great find, buy it. Have them include the 7 year 90k mile service, timing belt, water pump, seals. It is 7 years old. Also have them reverse the white letter tires. I would buy it, from what you stated .

The 90k will cost the dealer $500, I don't feel you need an extended warranty, with normal service you will get hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles. I would offer them $28,500 with the 90k service. I think it's a great vehicle with its mileage and history. I think it's worth paying the full price as long as they include the 90k service. They are not making anymore 100 series, they are built for the third world country's to last 25 years of tough use. The 100 series is better looking then the 200's. Get this great one, they are rare and hard to find!!

I really appreciate your advice and wisdom here seeing as I'm new to the Cruiser game. I'm talking with them tomorrow and will let ya'll know how it goes.
