Very rare, but not unheard of. What you have is a special order from the factory, completely stripped down with basic options. That or it was ordered as a commercial or government vehicle, think UN type rigs.

In the US the opposite is the most common, where the vehicle is ordered by the dealer with every single option available to increase the sticker price.

The price is WAYYYY too high.

Thanks for the response...I figured it must have been some sort of fleet vehicle or very unusual special order! I don't think it'll work for me anyway as I really would use the third row, at least occasionally.

I agree the price is too high but remember that I'm in Canada and the market is very different. Firstly there were never any LC100's sold in Canada so they all came from the U.S. and are EXTREMELY rare so they tend to command a higher price than if they were for sale in the U.S. Us Canucks also tend to have to pay a lot more for cars anyway...even on models that are the same as those in the U.S. market. Gotta love Socialism....NOT!

Just ask the previous owner if the timing belt has done and tell him to be hoest. He has nothing to loose now that you own it. He should know being the first. If he says he doesn't know (?!) you can assume it has not been done.

btw, I love white for a 100. Be sure to post pics. Any plans/mods?

The previous owner says he is pretty sure the timing belt was done around 106,000 miles, but he doesn't have any proof of it because Toyota assured him they would keep track of all the work (he does have a bill for $1100 from the same time period, but no details). I went down to the dealership to request a print out of the work that was done, but no luck on the timing belt, at least documentation wise. The Toyota dealership, of course, recommended that I have the timing belt changed "very soon".

I think I'm getting the run-around from someone . . . .

If you have the feeling you are getting the run-around I would replace it (including tensioners and waterpump) and be done with it providing you have the financial means. You will never forgive yourself if the belt blows.

You don't have to pull the emblems and you don't even have to mask it. Just youtube plasti dip and you will see. It is easy (although I haven't done it yet). It's pretty cool stuff.

You guys are fantastic. I owe someone $1000. Timing belt changed at 102,000. I don't see anything about the water pump or the tensioners, but if those go, its not a catastrophic failure (at least I don't think it is). Here is what the detailed list has:

REPLACE TIMING BELT FOR V8 ENGINE. INSPECT RELATED ITEMS AND ADVISE. ~|~REPLACE TIMING BELT FOR V8 ENGINE. INSPECT RELATED ITEMS AND ADVISE. ~|~ ~|~102000 INSTALLED TIMING BELT AND DRIVE BELT

So, I guess lesson learned here is that a Toyota dealership isn't necessarily the preferred route when determining service history.

First mod will be to plasti-dip those wonderful gold emblems (if that is even considered a mod). Next up will be a swap out of the stock suspension with a 2.5" medium load OME Kit . . . then 35" tires . . . then awful gas mileage to follow ;~)

Value of Carfax reports

I'm back with yet another question...sorry!

I've all but given up finding a decent LC100 or LX470 here in Canada so I'm now turning my attention to importing one from the U.S. My question relates to the CarFax reports. I understand that they may not show all issues such as accident information if the accident info wasn't reported but what about service history? I've seen a couple of Carfax's on a couple of different trucks that show a very complete and consistent service history reported. Are these entries in the Carfax report generally accurate and trustworthy?

Put another way, if the Carfax shows a good service history but the seller doesn't have all the paperwork (perhaps because they are the 2nd/3rd owner) can I be reasonable comfortable that the work has been done?

DeltaT...I drove that one last weekend. Interior is excellent and drove really nice except it's full of rust! The inside of the upper tailgate looks like it's had rust holes repaired (and not real well either) and the undercarriage is a mess...it's really too bad as it was otherwise a really nice truck!

Anyone have an input on my question about the trustworthiness of service histories on CarFax reports?

Too bad, it looked nice on the pictures. I have been looking around for you too (I can't help myself). Here's one in Toronto. It looks like a Canadian vehicle too (it has those headlight washers)

But it is sure slim pickings. I guess I was lucky with mine.

As far as CarFax reports, it basically shows everything that is reported. So if they don't report an accident, it will not show up. Same goes with service history, if it was serviced somewhere else, it won't show up.

Hello mudders,

Thinking about scratching the itch and coming over from a tacoma. I'm not gonna mod too heavily and will need it to be more or less a daily ride. Right now I'm looking at 2 different 100s.

#1 is a 2004 with 116k miles. Asking price is 20,800. Looking at service records, at 94k, it had the timing belt, battery, water pump, spark plugs, crank seal, shocks/struts all replaced and the differential and t-case oil flushed. At 106k, the passenger CV boot was replaced and power steering flushed. All prior services look standard. It looks like this thing had its problems but maybe have all been addressed.

#2 is a 2006 with 100k miles. Asking price is 26.9k. Service history looks pretty standard with no major repairs on it. the last time it was serviced was at 77k so it doesn't seem the 100k timing belt, etc. has been done. It's at a Lexus dealer so I'm thinking that can be used as a negotiation point and have it done there.

Which one would you go for and what price would you try for?

Carmax in henderson nevada has a white 2004 LX470 Vegas vehicle since new with under 90k miles. I think they want $26k, it is perfect. I bought my 2005 with 107k miles all nevada miles and every service done on time at the local Vegas dealership from new, with new Michelin tires for $23k. When you buy a 100series that spent its life in a desert environment (no rust or corrosion) and all the maintance was done on time and by the book it is worth more money. If operated in a dry salt free environment and maintained by the book the 100series should be good for 500k miles. Don't buy a rust belt 100series, even though they are made of double sided galvanized steel this new salt on steroids that the rust belt states are using will eat any vehicle. I would rather pay more for a 10 year old AZ or NV LX then a 5 year newer lower mileage LX that has spent it's life in the rust belt.
