150k mile 100 Series for my wife - should I be concerned?

Quite frankly I’m not concerned, but I’d like to put my wife at ease. We’re looking at a 1999 Land Cruiser with 150k on it, overall it’s very clean and well-maintained with service records. 2nd owner, been in the same family since new. My 1991 FJ80 daily driver has 196k, 150k will be low mileage in comparison.;) I take maintenance very seriously, I’m particularly OCD with preventative maintenance. My thought is that after I knock out the regular PM I will feel confident driving this 100, family in tow, anywhere in the country. Would anyone have any reservations putting their wife and kids into a 150k Land Cruiser?

As with any used car, maintenance is key. This one sounds good. In my case, I bought a 99Lc from a member here. It had about 140k on it. We talked, he sent pics and I flew out to South Dakota. I Looked at and bought it, then drove 1700 miles home by myself in a day and a half. I am still driving it. I would feel fine doing with the purchase.

Have the car looked over from top to bottom by a independent Toyota LC expert. This may cost you a couple hundred, but if the mechanics of the vehicle including key safety points around brakes and suspension are sound, then there is no reason that the high mileage should scare you.

I have seen cars with 40K miles be a death trap for families, the LC is a top notch vehicle so just get some experienced eyes on it well beyond what the service records could tell you.

My LC80 had 200k when it was sold and my baby boy road in it all the time.

I'd be concerned she'll never let you drive it.

Am I crazy or is this a good deal?

2000 w/ 176,000 1 owner dealer maintained at a single dealership. All maintenance including new timing belt. Front passenger side bumper has a scrape but other than that the body is clean. Interior is spotless, and underside is perfect, no rust spotting. Asking 10k.

My :princess: happened to drive by the dealership when it was sitting in the back. Sales manager said as soon as the PO picks up their new car which arrives tomorrow we can drive the LC. I have inspected it from the outside and everything I could get to appears great. Haven't driven it, but will in the next day or two. Talked to the sales manager today and he seemed surprised I would want a cruiser with "so many miles". This is not a toyota dealer, chevy. I acted like the miles were an issue but I would put up with it if he could make the price right.

Holding my breath until I get a chance to drive and see engine...........But even the :princess: was said "if everything checks out we have to buy it"

Am I crazy or is this a decent price for a 1 owner dealer maintained rig, provided everything checks once I drive it.

Having been looking pretty hardcore for the last month or so, I'd say that's a fair deal. I found a nearly identical rig in CO with 176k, $10k OBO. Use the mileage for leverage, you can get it for less.

I just went and test drove that 2001 LX. It is amazingly clean, drives like new, and you could eat off the undercarriage. No dirt and absolutely no rust Everything works as it should. Has one chip in the front bumper about the size of a pencil eraser. Unfortunatley, I think this car is here about 30-45 days early for me. I've promised myself that if I make my companies top producers list, I will allow myself to get a new car. That doesn't end until June 30.

If any of you guys are around Columbia, SC, this is definately worth a look. He told me $18k including tax title and tags.

Luxury Cars Of Lexington - Lexington, South Carolina - Inventory Details - 2001 Lexus LX 470 $17,900.00

I was going to buy that one until I got it inspected at the local Lexus dealership today.

Rear shocks are leaking, throttle body needs to be replaced (pile of antifreeze crust), both CV boots are trash. Plus they noted a ton of other little things (brakes, battery, mirrors, etc).

They quoted several thousand dollars to fix just the CV boots, throttle body, and rear shocks.

Anyone have any feedback that the dealership is making a mountain out of a molehill, or should I run away? (dealer still wants $18k OTD) I'm torn if its worth it or I should spend some more and get a newer truck...

And...I spoke too soon. A local Toyota dealer just had reduced an 05 LC100, so we went to check it out and we are now proud owners of a 2005 Cruiser! :steer:

I have a single oem 16" wheel with the oem Michelin LTX mounted that was a spare and never used. Shipping might be a bit much to you though. I dont think mine looks like those...I can take a picture and email it to you for comparison if you like. It is off 2000 Lexus.

Hi Everyone....I'm looking for a relatively low mileage 2005/2006/2007 Landcruiser.....preferably right around 50k miles or under.

It seems that the 2007's in that mileage go for a significantly higher premium over a 2006. Understood it is the last year etc. for the 100's. Any reason why the 2007's are so high.

Most people are asking around $42k for a 2007 with <50k miles. What are the thoughts on a realistic actual purchase price.

Thanks.

I have a 2006 one-owner that just turned 40k miles that I will be selling in 5-6 weeks when my next car gets here. I can PM you the details if interested. Located in Kansas City.

i'm looking at a '98, loaded with 108k miles for 11k. Thoughts?

seems like a pretty good price...i just got a 99 and i think the rear air is key...made a difference on our last road trip...good luck with the purchase.
