Looking for LC or LX owner in Los Angeles area...

Hi there

In the quest for looking for the perfect rig, I was looking at 80 series for a while. After much research and shopping, I decided to go with the 100 instead.

I was wondering if there is anybody in the Los Angeles are (LA/Santa Monica, Santa Clarita, Simi, Thousand Oaks, Valencia, Pasadena) would be willing to spend a bit of time with me with either their LC or LX?

I can repay by a lunch/dinner treat or gas, if that works.

I am looking for a test ride (not drive-I don't want to drive your car). Nothing that extensive, 10 -15 minutes, and just looking over the car closely.

I am trying to decide between the LX and LC, and given I am not buying at dealer, I don't to waste a private party's time to kick the tires.

Thus I figured I would turn here for help.

I am looking at 2003+, but if a nicer one comes long older, that is fine by me (this is for my purchase).

But to get a good and close idea of the truck, any year 100 series will do.

well go figure I found a 06 Lexus LX with 42,000 miles on it, also happens to have Slee sliders, ARB Sahara bar(no winch) 285 BFG AT's,asking price was $40K, its local and is at a lot my buddy just started at.

Pretty sure it has no lift nor has the AHC been messed with.

its basically set up like my 2000 Cruiser and is running the same tire size as the Mrs 99 LX

thoughts?

Rig came from CA, its gray-ish, bumper is painted to match.

so we were thinking of trading the 99lx in on the 06, figure if I can get to 25-30K OTD difference I am happy, our 99lx has 150K and has OEM faded paint(there was a TBA in it) also the puppy ate some of the woodgrain :D

Sounds a lot like the one I looked at in Bellevue at the used Nissan lot, no?

If so, I think they've had it on the lot for a while. When I looked at it the battery was dead and the sales guy was surprised it was even on the lot. Nice rig, tan interior though and a little out of my price range.

same rig, still dead battery, now missing shift knob! but an avalon fit fine :D

its nice but i need to look it over better(duh), pic i took of the front suspension seems to show more rust(compared to the 99 and 2000) then I would expect or maybe its just the picture i took, my rotator cuff is shot so i didnt crawl around, drove great however

yeah, I noticed the missing shifter too - wonder what that's about... I drive by it nearly every day on my way to work and always check to see if it is still there. I keep thinking about calling and asking if they will sell me the slee sliders off of it but I'm sure they will have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about... :-)

its down in Tacoma now at a KIA lot, just stuffed in the back, not on the line

Looking at a 2000 LC, 145K, River Rock Green/Gray interior. Carfax came back with good records (Timing belt and starter @100K), but an accident without airbags. The car has been well maintained and is really clean with a few little dings/scratches. The owner is pretty firm @ $13.5k. I was thinking of $12K and settling on $12.5K. Am I crazy? Should I keep looking? Location= Seattle, which seems to run a premium $ on these wonderful machines.

Any thoughts/insight/ slap to the back of the head is appreciated........

Looking at a '99

Hello. I am new to the forum and would like some 'expert' advice ;) My father is going to look at a '99 100 for me tomorrow as I live across the country from where the vehicle is located. The LC had been rolled years ago then bought by a mechanic (a LC enthusiast) and he says the only damage was cosmetic and has all been replaced (mirrors, bumpers, etc). From pictures the Cruiser looks immaculate. What should my dad look at in particular, if anything? He has owned several LC's in the past, but any advice would be much appreciated. What worries should I have, if any?

At $5,000 it might be a good deal, at $20,000 it might not be a good deal. See where I am going with this? Until you provide us with some pricing information, we can't really weigh the factors.

Also, detailed pics would help.

So I'm about ready to put my current ride up for sale (end of the month or so) and start the search for an '03-ish 100. With gas prices going higher, and summer approaching, this begs the question: Has anyone noticed price fluctuations of 100s based on gas prices or based on time of year (EG: "WINTERS COMING, YOU NEED A 4WD, COME TO OUR DEALER AND PAY TOO MUCH FOR ONE!!!1!")?

Thanks 'MUDers! This place rocks.
