I talked with him. Good candidate for a V8 swap, but I don’t like the color. I offered $1500 and he didn’t jump.

I see it is at $2000 now, thought it was $2500 originally

I've got a good 100 series half cut ready to go if someone wants to go that route, 1999, 2UZ auto and transfer, all wiring, etc

What’s the cost of a V8 swap (done right, by someone that’s knows what their doing)? Roughly...

too many variables, which engine? what trans? adaptors? I would guess minimum $6000+

I've got a feeling that Paul's estimate is pretty low if you've got to hire it done. If you've got to hire it done it's going to be high. the cheapest route would be to find a replacement engine. I'd call hanser's in billings and see what's available. If you want a v8(that would be my choice) the sky's the limit. It would be a heck of an 80 with a 6 litre ls in it.

That’s Rob’s truck. Can’t seem to remember his avatar right now. But has been seen with the club before.

I think the rule of thumb is 10k for a swap if you’re going to do the work yourself and have everything work like it would from the factory

I agree, this is a project truck for a V8 swap. If you do all the work yourself I’d think $5-7k

If you hire it out. You could easily double or triple that. I know of one shop that gets almost $25k for a GM LS V8 swap, it’s new OEM/GM everything... and done right. If you want an 8 cylinder and can’t do it yourself, I’d buy a 100.

However a V8 80 series is on my bucket list.

Dang Paul, that’s tempting. Need to find that 45 body and get busy.

the engine swap is just the begining, then you probably should put bigger tires on or you'll just be spinning. with bigger tires comes broken axles so aftermarket axles and accessories plus regearing and while you're doing that might as well through in a locker or better yet two. it never ends, Sam(my kid) ended up with a 2 wheel drive extra cab toyo pu this summer, didn't last long and now it's sitting on dana's on 37's i believe and we fitted an LS in it. he's into the engine , tcase and tranny about 1500. no idea if any of it is any good plus he forgot to add the aftermarket computer setup he's getting into the price. Guess my point of all this rambling is you can do a v8 fairly cheap if you do it yourself but by the time you're done i've never had it end up cheap. the easiest way if you're into the wiring aspect would be to get paul's 100 series that has most of what you'd need. a v8 80 would be sweet with the added benefit of seeing Drew's beard with drool in it everytime you idled by with that v8 rumbling.

I still want to put a 60 on a Tundra chasis with the 5.7L I have no idea how much wonky work it would take but what a sweet combo it would be! But Ron is right, its all the little things that end up doubling the price. Swaps are for dedicated gear heads or for guys with deep pockets... I prefer to buy one completed already if it is done right! Haha

Ron is a '69 the corrugated sides? If it is the regular glass, I'll bite. I have a set of sides in the shed with gaskets but no glass. If they can play nice together I am intersted.
