Twelve miles in.
been shopping for a truck for my daughter (18) for school and to pick up feed for the horses. Started thinking about the tacomas, and sticker shock set in quickly. I looked at an 06 ext. cab trd (need the traction) w/4.0 at the dealer, and he wasn't playing nice. I just found an 03 trd w/ 84000 mi. clean and well maintained w/ the 3.4 motor. I had wanted the 4 cylinder but hard to find with decent options. Please school me on motors- fuel econ.- esp. the 3.4 ........ Thanks

My 03 3.4 with 180k averages around 20 mixed. Highest I ever got was 22. Love the truck it's a trd 5 speed 4x4. Locker really comes in handy.

bought it today in phoenix. 12 hr. drive home sat. Runs strong, the guy even put new at tires on. I think I did ok on the price, at least I know who owned it and how it was maintained. :steer:

Should serve you very well!

I can't believe how smooth and strong this thing runs! It feels and drives like its new. This is the 3.4 I have driven, and I am impressed. We are going to do a little light wheelin today at table mesa before we go home tomorrow

You sholud be pleased with the 3.4 . My '96 had one and it had 240,000 miles on it when it was bought back by Toyota due to frame rot. The only thing it ever had was routine maintenace.

We just got home about two hours ago from our 12-hour trip, pushed that sucker consistently 75-78 miles an hour and getting roughly between 18 and 19mpg at those speeds, not bad. Ran like a clock, didn't miss a beat, we can't be happier with the truck; thanks for the info guys.

Same MPG as my rig. glad you are happy with it! You would have fun banging around Hollister Hills 4X4
playground with that Taco. Easy drive.

Been looking at a simular year rig, what they selling for these days?

I paid $10600. That was private party value on kbb. Better than the 18000. on the 06 I was looking at. The guy even put brand new all terrains on it for me. Great shape, well maintained. I'll post pics when I get a chance

I've been there with my 40. lots of fun. We took the taco to table mesa in arizona to check it out, and it did well cause I didn't get stuck. But I didn't get stupid either.
