Hey guys,

I should be buying a 2011 LX570 with just over 100k on the clock tomorrow.

I'm not really versed on the 200s, what are common things to look out for?

I know the LX470s AHC goes out around 150k and the timing belt needs to be replaced on schedule, but clueless on the LX570s.

Thanks!

No belt on the 5.7 liter, just a chain. Id just look out for rust, accident history/paintwork, overall condition. Give it a good test drive, and as long as there are no bad noises, bad smells, smoke or flashing warning lights, go for it!

Awesome thanks!

BTW : Does seem to have a chunk broken on the drivers side wood trim where the memory seats are and the veneer on the passenger dash looks like it's just starting to peel. Are these easy to find pieces? Or better to go with something from a wrecked car?

those veneers are 100% going to crack and peel. They are also super expensive to replace with OEM. Every LX I looked at (I was bottom feeding 2008 and 2009s) had that issue.

Can they be "fixed" by a local interior shop if a little glue won't fix the issue?

BTW : What are those pieces even called? Can't find them on the LX570 parts diagrams.

Also, we're running 285/75 16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires on our LX470 (lifted / swapped our AHC), if I do the sensor lift on the LX570, what are the largest tires I can run on the stock wheels?

Anyone that swapped out to more aggressive tires like BFG or Wildpeaks on their 570s, how did the ride change? I think the 470 rides well on the Wildpeaks, but it's probaby a lot more rough than a 570 to start.

Is the rear "spoiler" easy to take off? We don't have one on our 470 and kinda like the look...

You can fit up to 34" with minor/plastic trimming. 35s will probably require a body mount chop. There are some threads running around on large tire sizes. Lots of ATs and RTs and a few MTs on the forum. With on the fly suspension response (sport, middle, comfort) you can just choose what you like. I switch it based on highway and city, and even sometimes by street if it's really potholed.

The spoiler removal will leave visible bolt holes. That might or might not be an issue for you. Most work around it.

If not, consider patching it with something like bondo, smoothing it out to a perfect OEM shape, and then wrapping the trim piece in new vinyl.

Good idea!

Kinda hyped about the car. It's about 200 miles away, so hopefully all's good when we show up tomorrow.

I run BFGs on my LX570. They are marginally louder than stock at highway speed and cost about 1mpg. I am very happy with the ride.

Looks great!

Is than an option for them on the stock 20" wheels?

I think for more serious trails we'll take the 470.

There are several options for the stock 20" wheels. A mild and easy fit tire would be a 285/55r20 at 32.3", which can be considered a "33". More aggressive and a tad more plastic trimming would be a 285/60r20 at 33.5", considered a "34".

There's some 275 width option, but I personally don't like going down in any dimension from stock.

My choice, for more everything including braking and corning traction, and more bulge in the sidewall to protect the wheels is a 305/55r20 (33.2")

Anecdotal: No known AHC failures on this board. There was a guy a couple if years ago that had problems from towing with excessive tongue weight.

Mine has been rock solid. I believe that @grinchy has 200k on his 570.

Another option is Tundra takeoffs. I went down to 18” for a bit more rubber.

Leaky waterpump from weep hole
Cracked radiator from high rise stress area
Coolant valley leak
All common problem areas especially with higher mileage rigs over 100k miles

Also look for the cam tower leak.

Thanks guys!

Was a bit of a hectic day when we picked the car up.

The car was 3 hours away in Houston and first impressions were poor.

The car wouldn't start in the make ready area. They put a new battery in (looked like it was still on the first battery) and all was good.

On the test drive I noticed that the TPMS light was on. Tried to reset with no luck, I'll need to have a local shop look at this I'm guessing. Hopefully just a sensor.

After the test drive I noticed that there was a squeak coming from the belt/pulleys. They had a tech do some adjustments and it went away and hasn't come back after about 800 miles.

All considered we went ahead and bought it. The price seemed good for the issues I noticed:

- Two areas of wood veneer cracking (contacted a few car interior and wood repair people to get quotes - seeing the drivers side veneer by the memory seats requires a whole door panel from Toyota).
- Squeak from the belt / pullies. Seems to have gone away, but have a gatorback style belt on the way. Also contacted my mechanic about if there is a pulley issue.
- TPMS error. Need to get this looked at next week.

Ended up paying $26k for it. 2 owner car, clean no wreck car fax with 110,000 on the clock.

Doing a bunch of little things the next few days:

- Replacing all the wipers.
- Replacing the air and cabin filters.
- Adding front cup holder divider (was missing in my 470 as well)
- Oil Change
- Taking off the pin stripe (why.....!)
- Deep interior cleaning and leather treatment
- Replacing the belt
- Restoring the headlights
- Rearview mirror seems loose, going to remount
- Program new remote for the rear seat entertainment (has the headphones though)

The 570 does feel much nicer and quicker than the 470, kinda shocked with how much.

Will be getting a bit more aggressive with the 470 build going forward. Not sure what direction to take the 570 though. Either start adding some more aggressive offroad bits or do some appearance stuff and make it more of a mall parking lot cruiser for now. Dunno...

Wildpeaks ride great on a 570 :) Mine are 34's

See they make the Wildpeaks in 305/55-20s as well :)

Any more pics?

Kinda leaning that way, we'll see :)
