OK, maybe a stupid question, but in my FJC on the dash there is a button next to where the ATRAC button would be that has a little car with a radio like wave coming from the roof down. I have no idea what it is or what it's for. It doesn't do anything when I press it. And ideas? I'll try to take a pic tonight and post it when I get out of work.

I looked EVERYWHERE in the owner's manual for that thing! Maybe I just missed it....

Did you get anything with the alarm

Nope, not a thing.

She is my sister, clearly she lacks the ability to read a manual due to her genetics :)

huh, I would have guessed the rear de-frogger........

I second the idea of parking sonar, for reverse only.

maybe it opens/closes the neighbors garage door. Maybe you should go ask them if their door has been acting odd lately.

It's part of the alarm that was installed at the dealership; the button disables the interior proximity detector. Push the button and the security light starts flashing (beside the radio) - when you lock the door, the interior proximity sensory is disabled.

the button in question

I was told it is for the speakers in the headliner. If you have the FJAMMER stereo it comes with speakers on each side of the dome light. You have to put your ear up against the headliner to tell exactly where the sound is coming from.

I think the headliner is the speaker on the FJAMMER system.;)

Nope.

There are two speakers located in the ceiling, they use the headliner as a diaphragm to "disperse sound more evenly throughout the entire listening environment."

These speakers are on all FJCs, not just the FJammer system.

And here I thought a diaphragm was a part of a speaker.

From Toyota's press release:

The FJ Cruiser is equipped with a pair of NXT SurfaceSound transducers, which convert the vehicle's ceiling into a speaker diaphragm. It marks the first time this technology has been used in a motor vehicle. The result complements the conventional speakers elsewhere in the vehicle, creating a broad, omni-directional dispersion of sound.

Main thing is, there is no button for these speakers on the center stack.

THANKS everyone...here is what I know as of this morning:

Top row buttons:
1. Nope
2. Nope, got that
3. Nope, not equipped with that
4. Nope, not equipped with that

Bottom row buttons:
1. EMPTY, check
2. Nope, not equipped
3. Check
4. EMPTY, check

I called Toyota, sat on hold for a long, long time, and the don't know what it is either. I'll try the speaker thing to see if something changes when I toggle it on and off, cause that makes the most sense given what it looks like. I didn't have a chance to take pics last night...but I will!

I don't think I have the "someone is close to your truck, holy crap!" security system, but I'll go hit the button a few times and see what happens. Hopefully it's not the autodestruct sequence initiator.

voodooblue...I'll check with the neighbors on that garage door!

Thanks y'all...i'll go hit buttons until something happens.

It's in the bottom row, 4th position that should be EMPTY, next to the Aux input jack. I just tested the speaker theory...no dice. I also set the alarm and beat on the truck a bit...nothin. The truck also didn't self destruct...so that's good! ;)
