I recently finished updating the suspension on my new(ish) to me 2000 LC. New end links and bushing front and rear, brand new rear sway bar and new shock front and rear. All OEM parts. I did everything myself until it came to the rear shocks. I took it to a shop to have that done because it was just too much of a PITA.

I got the truck back yesterday and now I’m noticing a burning rubber smell coming from the rear drivers side wheel well. I don’t see anything rubbing and I can’t think of anything that could be causing it. Any ideas?

Maybe they torched off the old shock because the nut was frozen. That might leave burnt rubber residue in the area of the upper shock mount.
You could ask them if they did.....

Just spoke to the guy at the shop. They cut both of them off by cutting through the bushing. Hence the burning rubber smell. I’ll be spraying it down later to clear all that nasty smelling stuff out. Thanks for the response
